Sicily Sailing Yoga Vacation

The Archipelago of the Aeolian Islands is an area full of active volcanoes and stunning scenery. A Sailing tour between the seven islands to practice Yoga will become one of the most exciting experiences of your life!

Have you ever dreamt of escaping to a Yoga and Sail adventure? Come on board on an exclusive sailing boat cruising across the Archipelago of the Aeolian Islands. Limited to a maximum of 8 guests each, this sail, Sivananda yoga and meditation retreat is created with attention to detail and will take you to one of the most amazing area in Mediterranean Sea.

During the tour we often met whales, sea turtles, dolphins always surrounded by the clear blue waters of this volcanic Archipelago. Our cruise will transport you to another world with its wild nature, peaceful sailing in the silence of the sea, a climbing trek to the active Stromboli volcano, sleeping by anchor in beautiful bays and enjoying vegan fresh meals prepared on board by the crew.

Yoga can benefit everyone, whether your intention is to become stronger, flexible, serene or to cultivate a greater sense of self awareness. In the practice of Yoga we work hard to create unity: within ourselves and in relation to other people. It is our wish to help you follow this path to the best of your ability and for this reason during the sailing tour and the practice of yoga in the Aeolian Islands with us we will do our best to help you get nearer to achieving this goal.

Note:

- The mentioned day by day itinerary below is just an idea of what could be your sailing itinerary, the captain will decide which islands to see first basing the choice on the weather conditions and wind direction, the purpose is to enjoy sailing and calm waters, between the 7 islands you will see all of them or maybe 5 or 6 islands but in different spots.

- In between: Diving, Trekking, Silent Walk and more according to the Weather and Sea Conditions

Optional Trek Climbing the Crater of Stromboli, an Active Volcano (Booking in Advance)

Itinerary

Day 1
Milazzo to Vulcano Island
Vulcano, the island that gave its name to all volcanoes. Famous for its mud baths (‘fanghi’) and its still smoking main crater. Depending on the wind, you might be immediately hit by the characteristic sulphurous smell coming from the hot springs. The walk up to the impressive crater and a visit to the small villages of Gelso and Piano make an interesting and pleasant day trip.
Day 2
Lipari Island
Lipari is the biggest and most populous of the Aeolian Islands. Historically, it has been the most important island over the centuries, since Neolithic times. Apart from a few very beautiful walks, the ‘must’ of the island is the ‘Museo Eoliano’ an impressive archaeological museum, housed in the buildings around the Duomo, in the upper town of Lipari, still surrounded by old city walls. Also quite impressive are the white shiny pumice quarries directly overlooking the sea, giving the water an amazing turquoise colour.
Day 3
Salina Island
Salina is the greenest and the most fertile of the Aeolian Islands, famous for its capers and the sweet Malvasia wine. Its ancient Greek name, “Didyme”, means twins and refers to the camel-hump shape of its two long-extinct volcanic cones. There are excellent opportunities for trekking. Lingua on Salina, an obligatory stop for most Sicilians is Bar Alfredo, whose granitas are famed.
Day 4
Alicudi Island
Alicudi is the second smallest of the seven, the wildest and the most remote. There is only one hotel (with the island’s only restaurant), a few houses and only one shop… a paradise for people in search of complete quiet and relaxation.
Day 5
Filicudi Island
Filicudi is the larger of the two minor westerly islands, still unspoilt by tourism and far from being developed. There are three villages, offering a few restaurants and markets. There aren’t any sandy beaches, but plenty of rocky coastal stretches and pebble beaches with wonderful swimming in crystal clear water.
Day 6
Panarea Island
Panarea is the smallest and the most fashionable of the seven. There are only a few small electric cars, beautiful walks and unique swimming opportunities in the many surrounding islets. In Lisca Bianca you can join amazing diving into the underwater fumaroles of gas sulphureus!
Day 7
Stromboli Island and back to Milazzo
Stromboli is a small and amazing island that raise from the bottom of 2500 meter underwater, and only 900 meter come up from the sea! It sounds like something you can’t find in all the rest of the world, as the indigenous are so fier, bold, wild and strong people! Dramatic Stromboli, in permanent eruption, maybe the most famous and spectacular of the Aeolian Islands. It is certainly one of the most active volcanoes in Europe and well worth an ascent to the top, when possible, with a guided-trip that will allow you to see the show of amazing eruptions frome very very close…. ! Sailing close the Sciara del Fuoco, if you’re in the right time, you can witness the awesome Sciara del Fuoco, that is, the river of lava running down to the sea. The more isolated Ginostra clinging to the rock and accessible only via a mule trail; and Strombolicchio, the impressive acropolis-like rock-island, topped by a lighthouse. Strombolicchio is the resulting formation of one of the oldest volcanic eruptions in the Aeolian chain. note: The itinerary can be subject to modifications.

Travelers reviews

Vincenza Onesta 2017-07-27

I sailed in The Aeolian Islands wuth Satya Yoga Trinakriananda from May 27 to June 3,2017. It was a very enjoyable vacation. I found The daily schedule of yoga, sightseeing , hiking And relaxing very balanced. The skipper Fabio, Who gas more than twenty years of experience, led us through The truly stunning area of The Aeolian Islands. He allo led The daily yoga sessions and introduced us to the vegan cousine, which was really tasty. I immediately bonded with my travel companions and we really felt like we were “on the same boat”,so to speak. I would heartily recommend this experience and I look forward to another vacation with them.

Tina Mundelsee 2017-05-21

I was leading a jivamukti yoga sailing retreat on the eolian islands and it was a spectacular experience for myself and all participants. Fabio is a very experienced captain and yoga teacher himself and knows the islands and the sea perfectly. Every morning and evening he brought us to a wonderful place for our yoga practice and showed us the most amazing spots on each island. We did not miss anything and we felt safe and taken care of during the whole trip. It’s an experience i can only recommend and for sure unforgettable. Tina Mundelsee – Live Love Laugh Yoga
