Gib’Sea 51

2003 Gib’Sea 51

Our beautiful yacht Nemo is a Gib’Sea 51 and is manufactured by Dufour Yachts. Michel Dufour’s vision was to ‘build beautiful well-constructed, responsive sailing yachts’ and Nemo’s pedigree shows through!

In addition to great sailing yachts, Dufour’s visions was to produce vessels of unprecedented interior comfort. And, as you settle yourself into your own private en-suite cabin we know you will agree. Nemo is a very spacious and comfortable yacht below deck.
Nemo is rigged as a traditional Bermudan sloop. This together with her large Main and Genoa sails are perfect for learning to sail and practising all sail trims. In addition, her lazy jack system and the furling Genoa make sail handling simple and effortless for such a large yacht.
Spacious Design
The cockpit is one of Nemo’s best features. Her twin helm design and pass-through transom combine to create a great space when sailing and an extremely comfortable area to relax in. It is a really great layout for handling at sea, swimming and snorkelling off the back of the boat. And an extremely comfortable area to relax with a sundowner and for delicious dinners
The Dufour Gib’Sea 51 and was designed by award-winning J&J as “the most spacious cruising yacht in her size”, which you will see when you come on board and experience a crewed cabin charter with us.

About Us

Nemo’s crew – Neil Collier and Samantha (Sam) Burrough both have a love of sailing and the unique peace and excitement that can be found at sea. They also love travelling and the discovery of new shores and friendships along the way. As well as eating, cooking, and outdoor adventures. Neil and Sam even met on a crewed cabin charter in the Caribbean.

A love of sailing

Neil started sailing as a teenager on a youth group trip and was hooked by the freedom and ability to travel. He has experience of sailing in the English Channel, honed in the varied conditions of Gibraltar, southern Spain, and Portugal.

He loves any sailing boat but especially likes sailing Hobie Cats for fun! After in a career in Engineering, he could no longer resist the lure of the sea, and so he trained to become a commercial RYA Yachtmaster Captain and RYA Cruising Instructor. One of Neil’s life ambitions was to sail and explore the Caribbean … and here we are!

Sam did her early sail training in San Francisco Bay with OSCS in Berkley, California. One of the highlights of sailing there was to take a boat out on the water and spectate the America’s Cup race. She completed her professional RYA Yachtmaster training with Miramar Sailing in Antigua.

Crew Adventures

Although they are both British, Sam was living in California and Neil was sailing and instructing in the Caribbean and Gibraltar when they met, so they ended up meeting all around the world during their first year together.
One of their first trips was to the Galapagos Islands, where they encountered the incredible Blue-footed Booby. The beauty, intrigue and quirkiness of the bird and its habitat were the inspiration for their company name – BlueFoot Travel. Their logo is the blending of the Blue-footed Boobies fabulous feet with the bow of a yacht.

Why join them on a crewed cabin charter?

Being professional is an important part of any business, Neil and Sam have internationally recognised Yachtmaster qualifications endorsed by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and their yacht is commercially coded (Category 2). Find out what it takes to become an RYA Yachtmaster™ here.

Neil and Sam have extensive experience hosting crewed yacht charters in the Caribbean. They are really looking forward to welcoming you on Nemo as skipper and host to share the wonders of sailing in the Caribbean with you and getting to know you! Board as guests on your sailing holiday…and leave as friends!

Reviews

“Thanks to Sam and Neil for a fantastic weeks sailing around St Vincent & The Grenadines. We took in lots of beautiful places (particularly Tobago Cays), saw some fantastic sights and experienced the warmest hospitality aboard Nemo. The fact that we learned some sailing skills in the process was an added bonus! Thank you Neil for the great instruction (and for letting me hang over the front of the boat!) and Sam for the great food and bottomless Dark & Stormys! Only had to revert to Plan B once too! Happy sailing and we will be back to join you again next year.

"Thank you so much for the most fantastic holiday - from the day you picked us up in Bequia to now in Grenada. It has been everything we dreamed of. Beautiful scenery, wonderful snorkelling, great food and good company. Thank you for showing us all these wonderful places, for letting us try our hand at being sailors and taking care of our every need. We have all learned lots of new things and you’ve both been great teachers as well as companions. It has been great getting to know you and we wish you the best of luck. Thanks again."
