In 1953, the keel of a wooden ship was laid at the Vranjic shipyard in Split. In 1955, the ship was completed and the cargo ship “Milna” was launched. After decades of transporting building materials and other cargo from the mainland to the Dalmatian islands, its new owner decided to convert it into a passenger ship in 1989. The ship was completed in time for the 1990 season and the owner christened it (Father John) after his father. 30 years later, the young captain Dino – who comes from a family with a long seafaring tradition and grew up on ships – bought the Gulet together with his wife Larissa. While Dino holds the helm of the Gulet with a steady hand, Larissa – who also speaks fluent English and German – looks after all the needs of her guests on board. As a psychology graduate who worked on various ships for several years during her university holidays, she decided to pursue a life in tourism after completing her studies.
The guests appreciate the relaxed atmosphere on board a traditional wooden ship, which cannot be compared with modern steel ships. During the trip, you can sunbathe on one of the two sun decks, sit together at the large table in front of the wheelhouse or let the waves gently rock you in the hanging chairs at the covered stern. During the swimming breaks in the most beautiful bays of the Dalmatian islands, some guests dare to take a bold leap from the upper deck, drift across the sea on one of the air mattresses on board or try their hand at stand-up paddling. And if you're thirsty
afterwards, Larissa will spoil you with an ice-cold beer, a glass of wine or a cocktail.Even though they renovated all the cabins, bathrooms and the saloon in 2020 and the owners come up with something new every year, you won't find any luxury here. But you will find excellent food and attentive service almost around the clock.
They have only had the Gulet for four years and are approaching their fifth season. Nevertheless, they have already welcomed some of their guests on board for the second or even third time. And some of them have already announced or booked for the next season. They obviously just feel at home on this ship...

2016 Gulet
For years, the Škarica family has sailed our routes from Zadar with the wooden motorsailers
The focus in the early and late season was on our bike routes. In order to be able to offer our guests more comfort, the family decided a few years ago to build a new ship. Construction began in the Split shipyard as early as spring 2015, so that this gulet has strengthened our fleet just in time for the 2016 season. The modern steel ship not only has 17 comfortable cabins and a spacious saloon on the upper deck, but also a bicycle garage! This means that the bicycles and e-bikes no longer have to be heaved onto the upper deck by our tour guides and the ship's crew, but can be easily pushed onto the ship. While father Ante does not let the helm of the Dalmatino out of his hands, his sons Roko and Jure - both of whom have of course been captains for many years - steer the Carpe Diem through the island world. And the "good soul" mother Nada not only takes care of the logistics, but also makes sure that everything is always in the best order in the galley.
General data: Length 40 m, built in 2016. 35 beds in 17 cabins with individually adjustable air conditioning and shower/toilet.
Lower deck: 7 double cabins with French bed, 1 triple cabin with French bed and separate single bed next to it.

Salon with air conditioning for 36 people on the upper deck, comfortable seating in the lounge area on the covered upper deck behind the saloon, which can be closed with a tarpaulin depending on the weather. Bike garage on the main deck.
