Indonesia is the world’s largest island archipelago. The 17,000 islands of Indonesia stretch in a vast 5200km crescent shaped sweep from Sumatra in the Indian Ocean to Halmahera in the Pacific. The number of islands that makes up Indonesia almost defies comprehension – if you started visiting Indonesian islands tomorrow at a rate of 1 island each day then it would take you until the year 2056 to get round them all.

Itinerary

Day 1
Embariking Sorong
From your arrival at Sorong Airport, a 10 minute taxi transfer brings you to yacht at anchor in Sorong harbour. We set sail for the island of Batanta – a mountainous jungle clad island that forms the southern coastline of Dampier Strait. We anchor in the midst of primary jungle in one of the many fjords that deeply indent the northern shore of Batanta.
Day 2
Batanta
Wake up to the fabulous birdsong from the jungle close at hand with huge flock of parrots, macaws and parakeets. Enjoy a morning dive or snorkel at Batanta then we set sail for the fabulous dive sites in Dampier Strait to the north.
Day 3
Manta Sandy
With over 30 world class dive sites spread over a huge area, Dampier Strait offers an enormous choice diving to match any preference and ability. One of the highlights of this area is “Manta Sandy”, a coral outcrop that is a cleaning station for huge numbers of manta rays.
Day 4
Pulau Gam
We sail north to Pulau Gam, an area of verdant jungle, miles of fringing reef, narrow mangrove channels and crystal clear water. The rare wobbegong shark is common here – we sometime see up to 4 or 5 at a time. This is a great area for jungle walks, kayaking and dingy tours.
Day 5
Island of Kawe
Continuing north we next sail to the mountainous island of Kawe. This rarely visited area has spectacular diving with large numbers of sharks.
Day 6
Archipelago of Wayag
Further to the north we spend the next 3 days in the wonderland archipelago of Wayag. With unbelievable scenery, great snorkeling and diving, beautiful beaches, thriving wildlife, superb surfing and over 300 islands to explore, Wayag is the jewel in the crown of the Raja Ampat.

Island of Penemu
We then sail south to the island of Penemu – an island of towering limestone karst formations. This area is riddled with caves. With spectacular scenery above and below the water, Pememu also boasts over 10 world class dive sites.

We spend this day at sea enjoying some fabulous sailing from Pemenu to Misool

Wagmab
Enjoy 2 days of fabulous diving in the Wagmab group of SouthEast Misool. Astounding fish life and pristine coral gardens.

Wayilabatan and Warakaret island
Enjoy some of the very best diving in the world in the Wayilabatan and Warakaret island groups.

ASIA has 5 ensuite staterooms for up to 10 guests. Two guest staterooms have king sized double beds, two can be set up either as twins or doubles with king size beds and the fifth stateroom forward has twin beds.

 

All the cabins have individual air-con controls, 220V power sockets, LCD screens, wardrobe and drawers. Each cabin has its own en-suite bathroom complete with shower, electric toilet and 220V power socket.

Sadly many of the more populated parts of Indonesia have been destroyed by dynamite fishing. However, with 17,000 islands spread over such a vast area there are still many parts of Indonesia that have have thriving fish populations and enormous fish. In this environment is is essential to fish responsibly. We keep small numbers of fish for eating but the majority of fish we catch are returned to the ocean unharmed.

While many countries use the rather tired cliché of “the best diving in the world” in their tourist literature, Indonesia can reasonably and quietly lay claim to this title. The “Raja Ampat” National Park in West Papua is considered by Conservation International as having the highest marine diversity on the planet and this view is also supported by National Geographic magazine. Komodo, Sulawesi, Alor, Wetar and the Banda islands are equally spectacular for underwater explorers. Indonesia’s diving potential has hardly been scratched – there are thousands of offshore reefs, volcanoes, pinnacles and seamounts that have never been dived before. Even experienced divers will find themselves excitedly paging through reference books trying to figure out what they have just seen underwater. Asia is fully equipped for Scuba diving for up to 8 guests. Scuba diving is charged at Euro 40 per diver per dive. This is structured so guests have the flexibility to decide during their charter how much they wish to dive. Guests only need to bring along proof of dive qualification for insurance purposes and their own dive computer/watch. Each dive is led by a highly experienced and knowledgeable dive leader. We take great pride in the quality and safety of our dive operation which is why we are repeatedly chosen by the UNDP / GEF for their remote area dive survey charters in South East Asia. We provide excellent surface support, full DAN safety equipment aboard the yacht and an emergency deploy buoy for each diver.

The next landmass south of Indonesia is the Antarctic. From June to September each year huge winter storms thousands of miles away in the Southern Ocean generate enormous swell that breaks on Indonesia’s south and west facing shorelines. This large swell arriving from almost the opposite direction to the prevailing wind creates magnificent conditions for surfing. The Mentawai islands, Sumatra and the Nusa Tenggara islands of Bali, Lombok and Sumbawa are now famous for their great surfing. Further afield, Doa, Raidjua and Halura are less well known islands that offer world class surfing. As with everywhere else in Indonesia, arriving by yacht allows you to get to places that others can only dream of.

Indonesia is well linked with a network of domestic and international airports. The primary points of entry are Bali, Jakarta and Manado. Domestic flights within Indonesia are operated by: Merpati,Garuda,Trigana Air, Indonesia Indonesia Air Transport, Lion Air

All visitors to Indonesia require tourist visas. The nationals of 63 countries are granted 30 day visas on arrival. All other nationalities need to apply in advance to an Indonesian Embassy or Consulate.
