Your sailing trip
A unique sailing cruise, in three amazing and different areas where you will experience the cultural atmosphere and the incomparable nature of Greece.
We start this sailing cruise at Athens and there are not enough words to describe it...
We will begin the crossing of the Gulf of Corinth and its impressive canal ! Of course we will visit the ancient Delphi: such was the importance of the Oracle at Delphi that the ancients believed it to be the center ("Omphalos") of the world. The oracle advised the great Persian Kings of the time, and when the Persians were poised to sack Athens,
Themistocles turned the advice of the Oracle to a winning strategy that led to the Greeks' victory in the naval battle of Salamina. The Oracle had simply advised that "wooden walls" would aid to victory, and Themistokles interpreted walls to mean the wooden ships of the Athenian fleet. Let's spend some time here, leading our imagination through the centuries, we are at the center of a fantastic place!
After this dive into history let's meet nature and folklore: The Ionian Sea is one of our favorite cruising areas, so we’ll try to describe the islands for you here, although it’s difficult to put in words their real beauty!
With the exception of the two bigger and more touristy islands (Corfu and Zante), the rest are off the beaten track and the best way to visit them is on a sailing cruise, as they don’t even have ports or airports. The locals who are mostly fishermen and farmers are very laid back and friendly, so we are not surprised when we often hear our guests mention that during their evening walk they were invited by an old lady to her garden for a cup of coffee!

Yacht - Ocean Yachts 56
For our Greek Island cruises we know that the most important thing about a charter yacht is to be spacious and comfortable, both on deck and below, and Velos is exactly that!
What attracted us to sailing yacht Ocean Yachts 56, She is a wonderful yacht, designed and built in 2007 by a well known Greek boatyard (Ocean Yachts) for the purpose of charter in the Mediterranean and Caribbean Sea, as well as for long ocean passages. The accommodation consists of five cabins altogether. The four of them are situated around the saloon and the fifth which is the crew cabin is at the bow with a separate entrance from the deck. They are all en suite with a toilet, sink and a shower.
Recreational Equipment on the yacht: TV/DVD Player, CD/Radio with cockpit speakers, Computer, Access to the Internet, Computer games, Table Games
Deck Equipment: Bimini Top, Sprayhood, Boarding/Swimming Ladder, Deck Shower

Cuisine on board
During your sailing cruise you will enjoy the beauty of the Greek Islands, but you will also taste some of the tastiest homemade dishes of the Mediterranean cuisine...this is also infact a ‘gourmet cruises’!!! It is a mix of recipes from the Mediterranean countries, always using fresh bio products and of course our best extra virgin olive oil. We serve tapas style dishes with a variety of appetizers, salads and main courses in the middle of the table, so everyone can help themselves to whatever they like. Lunch is accompanied by delicate local wines or a icecold beer. Alicia is the chef/hostess aboard our yacht Velos, but her recipes are also prepared by the chef/hostess on our smaller yacht Alexandros, as she Alicia’s protegeè. If you have any food allergies or intolerances it is not a problem, but it will be great if you could let us know beforehand so that we may accommodate for that. Our Greek Island cruises are half-board and if you decide to spend one or more nights in a secluded bay, you can also have your dinner onboard for a cost of 30 Euro per person, minimum 4 people (sundowner cocktail, appetizers, main dishes, wine or beer and dessert).
A typical day
When you arrive onboard the first evening and after a welcome drink, everybody will sit around the chart and we will inform you about the area and all the possible places to visit. After discussing everybody's preferences a general itinerary will be drawn. However our experience has shown that during your cruise it may alter slightly, as you will get new ideas along the way! After all, a yachting holiday is all about freedom and exploration! A typical day on our Greek Island cruises, starts in the marina of a little village where you spent the previous night (or anchored in a remote bay if you decided to stay there!). After a good night's sleep onboard our sailing yacht, you help yourself with breakfast on deck. Normally around 9:30 we set sail. With the gentle breeze that prevails in the Greek Seas during the summer months, you will have a comfortable sail to a bay of your choice either on the same island or another one, where you can swim in the emerald waters of the Greek Seas, snorkel and explore or just relax reading your book. Around 1 pm, lunch is served at the cockpit. In late afternoon it's a good time to weigh anchor, hoist the sails again and let the local breeze do its magic and take us to a picturesque little village on another island. We'll be there around 5 o'clock which will give you plenty of time to explore the place and experience the local culture. Later you can head for dinner to one of the tavernas, where you will have the opportunity to taste the Greek cuisine, famous for its delicious plates.
