Disappointing Cabin Charter Experience with IntersailClub – poor communication, complicated and vague booking system, things we were led to believe we’d booked not provided and lots of extra charges over and above the initial price. We recently booked a sailing trip through IntersailClub around the Amalfi Coast and had asked for and agreed to pay extra for a hostess/cook which we’d done on previous charter holidays with other companies. Unfortunately, when we arrived under the assumption we had booked a hostess, no hostess was arranged for us. What they do not tell you on their website, is that if a hostess is not provided, you’re left to manage the shopping, meal planning, and cooking yourself. This is so much less practical than having a hostess/cook. We had to make a list of everyone’s food preferences, then go to a supermarket to purchase all the groceries. It also means a much more cluttered galley with everyone getting in each other’s way. After shopping, we waited around for nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes to be picked up. Once back at the boat, we had to haul the food bags ourselves, unpack everything, and prepare meals— the whole ordeal cost us about 4 hours of our precious sailing time on day one. Also be aware the skipper will help himself to your food and drinks but doesn’t paying for anything. This again makes planning difficult because you go to get something out the fridge for a meal you’ve planned but it’s gone because he has eaten it. Day two did not fare much better. Our boat broke down, and we had to wait over two hours for someone to come and repair it. This delay severely impacted our experience, taking away from the limited time we had to sail and enjoy the scenery. Lastly, be aware that there are additional costs at every turn. You will be charged for each port stop, fuel at the end of the trip, and more. It felt like a constant drain of money, with very little of the relaxing and carefree sailing experience that was promised. I appreciate these things have to be paid for but there must be better ways of doing it. Either within the price or a flat deposit at the start with a refund maybe if it’s not all needed. Another slight negative was that unlike bigger charter companies with a larger pool of customers and bookings to choose from I get the impression on the cabin charter side of things the groups are very varied in age, hobbies and languages spoken. Our group comprised ages from 30-80, half spoke English and half spoke no English so again it made things quite difficult. Larger charter companies would usually be able group together more suited couples with more in common. Overall, the trip was far from the smooth, relaxing experience we had hoped for. I would strongly advise anyone considering IntersailClub to carefully review all details and expect to do a lot of extra work themselves and a lot of extra costs over and above the initial price paid. IntersailClub did offer to send a hostess over halfway through the charter but by then we were already at Capri which was miles away from Marina D’Arechi and also I got the impression the other members of our charter weren’t really that bothered. Proving even more that we weren’t paired up together as a group correctly in the first place. They also offered some discount off a future charter but to be honest even with a discount I wouldn’t use them again. Also when you look on the website there are pictures of all different models of catamaran and they say it is the luck of the draw which you get. Well we must be very unlucky as there were about 15 catamarans on the dock we were on and we were the only Lagoon 40 – the oldest smallest of all the cats there.

Sempre una certezza nell’organizzazione, fino al consiglio dello skipper più affidabile!!

Excellent experience highly recommended.Beautiful holiday. Extremely comfortable and fully equipped Cat 45. Skipper (Riccardo) and Hostess (Serena) truly exceptional above all expectations. Especially the group with which I shared the holiday together with my partner, truly 3 other magical couples.

Esperienza meravigliosa in Costiera Amalfitana! ! ! L'Intersail Club ci ha aiutato a trovare la barca a vela giusta, ha risposto tempestivamente a tutte le nostre domande, l'equipaggio è stato fantastico e tutto è stato semplicemente fantastico e indimenticabile!
