Sail the Serenity of the Maldives
Aboard a traditional schooner from Dhangethi to the South Ari Atoll
Set sail on an intimate journey through the turquoise waters of the Maldives, exploring the atolls of Dhangethi, Vaavu, and South Ari aboard a classic 30-meter wooden schooner. With a maximum of 16 guests, this small-group experience strikes the perfect balance between comfort, authenticity, and immersion in nature.
Each day brings a new discovery — from deserted sandbanks and vibrant coral gardens to the chance to swim with manta rays, whale sharks, or encounter playful dolphins. With water temperatures around 28°C year-round, it’s a paradise for snorkeling, exploring the shallows, or simply floating under the sun.
Life on board unfolds at a gentle rhythm. Cabins come with private bathrooms and air conditioning, while the sun deck offers panoramic views and quiet moments. All meals are included and combine fresh local flavors with international cuisine, served al fresco or in the indoor dining lounge.
Three cruise experiences, one unique boat
This schooner offers three curated cruise types, each tailored to a different kind of traveler:
Discovery Cruise: A relaxed sailing route with daily snorkeling, uninhabited island visits, and wildlife encounters.
Diving Cruise: Designed for certified divers, includes up to three guided dives per day from a dedicated dhoni.
Surf Cruise: Ideal for independent surfers, with daily access to renowned surf spots in the central atolls.
The prices listed on this page refer to the Discovery Cruise. Diving and surf cruises are available upon request with specific conditions and rates.
Boarding & logistics
The cruise departs from the harbor in Dhangethi, reached by speedboat transfer from Malé International Airport. The round-trip transfer is arranged by the crew and costs USD 100 per person (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours).
Embarkation Saturday: Arrive in Malé before 9:00 a.m. — the speedboat leaves at 11:00 a.m.
Disembarkation Saturday: Return transfer departs Dhangethi at 7:00 a.m. — afternoon flights are strongly recommended.
Whether you’re an experienced diver or a curious traveler drawn to remote waters, this cruise reveals the Maldives at its most raw and magical — one island, one reef, one horizon at a time.

Guided Diving Excursions to Coral Reefs in the Maldives
Embark on a professionally guided diving adventure to explore some of the Maldives’ most spectacular coral reefs, home to an incredible diversity of marine life. Glide over vibrant coral gardens where hawksbill turtles gracefully feed, reef sharks patrol the drop-offs, and schools of neon-colored fish shimmer in the sunlight. Your local dive guide will take you to renowned dive sites such as Maaya Thila or Fish Head, where the warm, crystal-clear waters offer visibility of up to 30 meters. Perfect for both seasoned divers and confident beginners, these excursions reveal why the Maldives consistently ranks among the world’s top scuba diving destinations.
Island Village Cultural Tour in the Maldives
Go beyond the postcard-perfect beaches with an immersive cultural tour of an inhabited Maldivian island. Stroll along sandy lanes lined with colorful houses and coconut palms, visit local fishing harbors, and step into small handicraft workshops where artisans weave mats, carve wooden dhonis, or create intricate lacquerware. Your hosts will share stories about traditional fishing techniques, island folklore, and community life. Savor a taste of authentic Maldivian cuisine with mas huni — a delicious mix of tuna, coconut, onion, and chili served with fresh flatbread — and freshly pressed coconut water. This tour offers a deeper connection to the Maldives’ heritage, far from the resort experience.
Visit to Local Maldivian Villages for Cultural Immersion
Discover the authentic lifestyle of Maldivian island communities with a guided visit to a remote village. Walk through narrow sandy streets where children play barefoot, peek into traditional kitchens with wood-fired stoves, and see how local crafts are passed down through generations. Engage with friendly villagers, learn about their relationship with the sea, and enjoy the slower rhythm of life that defines the atolls. Along the way, sample home-baked sweet treats, tropical fruits, and aromatic Maldivian tea. This cultural immersion is a unique way to understand the traditions, resilience, and warmth of the Maldivian people.
Travel organizer tips
Pack smart for your yacht charter: choose a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase, bring lightweight layers, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-slip shoes for onboard use. A couple of swimsuits and motion sickness remedies can also make a big difference. Each boat has limited storage, so pack light—but wisely! Need help building the perfect list? Read our full guide: What to pack in a suitcase for a yacht charter
Start your day with a swim in a quiet bay, sail to hidden beaches or seaside villages, and enjoy a slow lunch on deck. Afternoons mean snorkeling, sunbathing, or exploring ashore. As the sun sets, your boat anchors in a scenic cove or near a harbor—ready for a relaxed dinner and a night under the stars. Curious about the full experience? Discover more in our guide: What’s a typical day like on a sailing holiday?
On skipper-only charters, guests usually share cooking and cleaning duties—think salads, pasta, and good teamwork. If there's a hostess, light meals and tidying are included, but it's still a casual, collaborative vibe. On fully crewed yachts, you’ll enjoy full service with a chef and crew managing everything. Want to know what’s included in your setup? Read the full guide: Who takes care of cooking and cleaning on a sailing charter?
Summer sailing holidays rarely face major weather issues—but when the sea gets rough, skippers adjust the route for your safety. Expect protected bays, marina stops, or a change in plan. These moments often lead to unexpected gems: local towns to explore, time to relax on board, or cozy dinners ashore. Curious about how crews handle these changes? Read the full FAQ: What to do in case of adverse weather conditions or changes to the itinerary
