Your trip

PNG, Alotau, Lusiades, Rabaul

If you are searching for an unforgettable adventure in Papua New Guinea, this Infinity voyage will be your chance.

At the end of the Canoe and Kundu Festival held in Alotau, we will sail east through the remote reefs and islands of the Lusiade Archipelago of eastern Papua New Guinea. This rarely visited area offers spectacular diving, a vibrant culture and rarely visited tropical islands. The biodiversity of the reefs is unmatched, you are bound to meet mantas and sharks among the turtles. ray’s and multitudes of colorful reef inhabitants, you may even meet a dugong.
The islanders live lives where magic spells and witchcraft are as normal as it is to put on custom costume and dance rituals after Sunday church.
We will continue our unforgettable journey sailing north to where Rabaul used to be, now covered in the ashes of the very active volcano that took the last remaining houses of the colonial town in 2006. You can clamber up the mountain across lava fields, see volcanic craters and enjoy the magnificent view over Simpson Harbor and Karavia Bay.
There are several first class wreck dives, beautiful reefs, some sea mounts that plummet down to 50 meters and with a bit of luck you may meet a family of dugongs. For the diving enthusiast this voyage is a not to be missed opportunity.

You could spend years on the islands and still wouldn’t have seen everything. The suggested itinerary above is just one possibility. We leave the details up to our guests, while taking weather into account. We are usually very active in a relaxed manner and like to immerse in the wildlife and culture of the places visited without having to worry about a strict, regimented schedule. We create a lively itinerary and include the best dive spots and nature sites of each area. Each island has its own personality and unique things to do. To make the most of what PNG has to offer, we recommend giving yourself plenty of extra time outside of the voyage or combine Infinity trips for a longer stay. We will have a wonderful journey filled with a wealth of unforgettable experiences, but we will NOT have enough time to do everything suggested above! If your heart is set on some specific activity, be sure to tell us about it so we can do our best to create the opportunity.

Infinity

Infinity is a fully-equipped 36 meter sailing expedition vessel on an ongoing voyage since 2003

Infinity is a fully-equipped 36 meter sailing expedition vessel on an ongoing voyage since 2003. She has traveled to over 2 dozen countries in both the North and South Pacific and in Southeast Asia and she has sailed amongst icebergs, penguins, and orcas in the Ross Sea, Antarctica, and Patagonia. She is crewed by a multicultural team with a contagiously positive vibe together with Captain Clemens Oestreich, who has skippered vessels for over 100,000 miles during the last 20 years, while raising his 5 children at sea. Infinity is built to be a world-traveling base for adventure and environmental work, forming a beautiful home with unique history and personality. The living quarters are designed with comfortable guest cabins and large communal spaces including an airy saloon, cinema, and extensive deck space. To date, over 200 crew members from all around the world have been part of many extraordinary adventures. They dove with wales and sharks, participated in environmental outreach and even battled deep-sea oil drilling companies. Infinity is open to guests for the first time this year.

Travelers reviews

GAELLE BOURIS, France 2015-04-01

“I was sailing & diving on this yacht for about 6 months, I’ve been on many boats in my life, but this yacht was for sure the best and my experience onboard was so awesome that it changed my life forever. I got certified as a dive-master onboard, had the amazing opportunity to dive in the most beautiful spots of South East Asia, cause that’s what this yacht is doing, is taking to places where it’s hard to get, remote atolls full of sharks, where you will be the only diver underwater! The experience also with the kids & the family was magical. Clemens is a great soul, loving & caring, an amazing captain and taught me so much, not just about living at sea but also about life, The words will never be strong enough for me to describe how I fell in love with this yacht & crew, I just hope everybody can jump onboard and have this life changing experience!”

SONJA DIXON, Australia 2015-02-04

“I crewed on this yacht for eight awesome months. Clemens is an inspiring Captain who knows his ship and the ocean like the proverbial back of his hand. I was treated like family from the moment I stepped on board and look forward to returning to this yacht in the future.”

OLE MUELLER, Germany 2014-12-01

“This boat is an adventure by itself! I sailed on this boat for 8 months, from the Philippines to New Zealand. You are on one of the most fun boats out there on the Pacific Ocean. Amazing people, great sailing and delicious meals (they have a pizza oven) I learned so much on Infinity: diving, trimming sails, navigation etc. If you are willing to learn, the captain Clemens is a pool of knowledge.”
