Your sailing trip
A sailing holiday from Trapani through the Egadi Islands, exploring the limestone coves of Favignana, the quiet bays of Levanzo and the steep cliffs of Marettimo in the clear waters off western Sicily.
The cruise covers the Egadi Islands, a small archipelago off the western coast of Sicily reached by a short crossing from Trapani, and moves between three main islands with distinct characters and different sailing distances from the mainland. Favignana is the largest and flattest, Levanzo the smallest and closest to shore, and Marettimo the most remote and mountainous, set further out in open water and requiring the longest crossing of the week.
Navigation stays largely coastal, with frequent stops to swim or anchor off a cove before moving on. The crossing to Marettimo is the only leg that involves a more significant stretch of open Tyrrhenian water, while the passages around Favignana and Levanzo are shorter and more sheltered, suited to slower days with more time at anchor.
Favignana's coastline alternates between flat limestone formations and clear water coves such as Cala Azzurra and Cala Rossa, both easily identified by the pale stone of their former quarry walls above the waterline. Levanzo is rockier and quieter, its two main bays of Cala Tramontana and Cala Dogana set against a largely uninhabited interior. Marettimo feels wilder still, with steep cliffs around Punta Libeccio, Punta Troia and Punta Bassana dropping directly into deep blue water with no road access along much of its coastline.
Trapani itself carries a distinctive Sicilian identity, with its salt pans, historic old town and Phoenician origins setting the tone before departure. The islands stay largely undeveloped, favoring small fishing harbors and quiet anchorages over built-up resorts, and Marettimo in particular retains a slower and more isolated rhythm shaped by decades of limited tourism compared to the rest of western Sicily.
Days generally combine a morning sail with time at anchor for swimming, followed by a slower afternoon either ashore or at anchor, with evenings spent in a small harbor or a sheltered bay depending on the island and the wind direction.

Onboard life has the unhurried feel of traditional Mediterranean sailing, with wide wooden decks built for moving freely between sun and shade.
The main living area is a wide saloon with a communal dining table, a separate relaxing corner and an equipped galley where meals are prepared fresh each day, with wood interiors and natural fabrics giving the space a warm, homely feel.
Generous wooden decks and sundeck areas allow guests to spread out without feeling crowded, with plenty of room to move around the boat at anchor or underway.
Built entirely in wood with a solid, traditional structure, the boat offers notably stable sailing compared to lighter modern designs, with little of the rolling motion that can make some boats less comfortable at anchor.

Pack smart for your yacht charter: choose a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase, bring lightweight layers, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-slip shoes for onboard use. A couple of swimsuits and motion sickness remedies can also make a big difference. Each boat has limited storage, so pack light, but wisely! Need help building the perfect list? Start your day with a swim in a quiet bay, sail to hidden beaches or seaside villages, and enjoy a slow lunch on deck. Afternoons mean snorkeling, sunbathing, or exploring ashore. As the sun sets, your boat anchors in a scenic cove or near a harbor, ready for a relaxed dinner and a night under the stars. Curious about the full experience? Discover more in our guide: What's a typical day like on a sailing holiday?
On skipper-only charters, guests usually share cooking and cleaning duties, think salads, pasta, and good teamwork. If there's a hostess, light meals and tidying are included, but it's still a casual, collaborative vibe. On fully crewed yachts, you'll enjoy full service with a chef and crew managing everything. Want to know what's included in your setup? Read the full guide: Who takes care of cooking and cleaning on a sailing charter?
Summer sailing holidays rarely face major weather issues, but when the sea gets rough, skippers adjust the route for your safety. Expect protected bays, marina stops, or a change in plan. These moments often lead to unexpected gems: local towns to explore, time to relax on board, or cozy dinners ashore. Curious about how crews handle these changes?
