Your sailing trip
Experiencing a sailing adventure on a sailboat means tuning into the rhythms of nature.
Experiencing a sailing adventure on a sailboat means tuning into the rhythms of nature. It means taking time for yourself, making a spontaneous stop at the sight of a beautiful bay, discovering places that are otherwise impossible to reach & waking up in the morning taking a dip in turquoise waters.
When someone asks me what motivated me to embark on this sailing adventure, I usually answer with a slight provocative tone probably “Because it’s something beautiful”. Yes, it’s something beautiful, but it’s a lot more than that, I want to perform an ancient gesture, a nomadic gesture on the carrier that has since ever united the world and its people: the Sea. I want to perform this act propelled by the wind, a free source of energy that simply awaits to be harnessed and transformed into power, in a forward movement.
I want to learn from the people I meet and from the traditions I experience, make friends with every wave I meet along my course, every ray of sunshine that shines down on me, every breath of wind that caresses me, every star that guides me, every storm that hits me, every doubt that tears me, every hardship. The sea has alway been an extraordinary teacher.
We chose Sardinia – a fertile island set in emerald green waters – for its rich traditions and hospitality. It is the ideal place for a sailing holiday on a sailboat. From the port of Santa Teresa di Gallura we sail on a sea shining a myriad of shades of blue, set in a frame of granite rocks with most curious and bizarre shapes.
We are located in the Strait of Boniface between Sardinia and Corsica, in the Archipelago of La Maddalena.
Sardinia is also the perfect setting for our special food & wine sailing holiday package called: Fornelli al Vento. From the port of Santa Teresa di Gallura we set sail stocked up with the most scrumptious tastes of Sardinia. The land’s rich and generous soil offers unique flavours and scents: olive oil, native grape varieties, spices and herbs, saffron, citrus fruits and marmalades, myrtle berries, strawberry trees, honey, ewe and goat cheeses, local sausage products, vegetables pickled in oil or in vinegar, bottarga (cured fish roe), fish, pasta, breads and sweets. We acquire a vast knowledge of Sardinia’s territory and producers, which allows us to pick from a selected range of characteristic quality products, according to the crew members‘ preferences and wishes.

Yacht - sloop
My name is Gindungo, I am a splendid cutter-rigged sloop, designed by Alex Carozzo and built in steel by the Metalmar shipyard. Having been devised for sailing in the Antarctic, I am suitable for extreme sailing conditions.
I offer generous space above and below deck, with a beam of 5 metres and a length of 15 (LOA 16 m).
The accurate and skilfully designed solid Burmese teak interiors give maximum comfort both in extreme cold and in tropical temperatures (insulated and fitted with an air conditioning/heating system).
There is a total of 11 beds distributed between 2 bunk-bed cabins, the shipowner’s double room, a double quarter berth and 2 convertible saloons. The below deck accommodates two toilets embellished with Carrara marble, a comfortable Alpes galley with 3 stoves, an oven and 3 sinks, an adjacent pantry and the navigation station.
I am lucky to have an owner and captain who lives with me 9 months a year and who is refitting me for the Round the World Sailing Trip.
And just in case you were wondering where my name comes from, it’s the name of an Angolan chilli pepper, which also determines my character.
My steering gear consists of a helm, a Robertson autopilot with double pistons and a steering station inside.
I am equipped with a double anti-collision, watertight bulkhead on the bow (also accommodating a large sail locker and hobby area) and a strong protection of the propulsion area and of the steering gear.
The board electronics consist of radar and chart plotter, VHF radio (fixed and portable), HF/SSB radio and AIS unit.
In the engine room: heavy duty Hino 112 HP motor, generator (4 KW), inverter (1 KW), 2 battery chargers (100 A), 2 alternators (230 A), desalinator (60 l/h), boiler (80 l), wind generator control unit (400 W).
A 1500 W Lofrans windlass, a 100-m-long chain and a 40-kg Bruce anchor guarantee for restful sleep in a bay.

Team Building & Incentives
Nothing is more gratifying for a team of co-workers than an adventure on a sailboat. Indeed a great bonus treat. But it's more than that: a team sailing trip has a strong bonding effect on all team members. If you wish to find out more about life on board, have a look at our pages Fornelli al Vento and Sailing Holidays. Upon our client’s request, we can add some extra flavour to the team’s sailboat adventure by integrating some more leisurely team building elements as a means to further strengthen team spirit.
Travel organizer tips
Apart from the holiday itself and from having a glance at a different kind of life, we care that you take back home a bag full of experiences, knowledge and culture around seamanship. Our association promotes the art of maritime life. Everyone should benefit of this opportunity to learn, whether you have already sailed many miles or are placing your first foot on a sailboat.
Preparing a meal on board during a sailing adventure becomes a moment to gather and to exchange more than just gastronomic recipes. Food and cooking are a way to meet. Crew members get to know each other, to discover the other‘s tastes, to interact. There is laughter and joking while sipping a glass of wine and preparing a scrumptious meal for the entire crew. The skipper takes charge of cooking if sea conditions are too choppy for crew members who do not have sea legs. He also suggests his own recipes whenever the situation is conducive or necessary. The Gindungo’s cooking gear includes a barbecue, a pressure cooker and a Bimby kitchen appliance.
There is a guitar on board. Our skipper loves to play it when he is in a musical mood.
An iPod with 400 of history’s best music albums meets everyone’s likes and any situation on board. We welcome your music on a digital support. Mostly, however, our soundtrack is the sound of the sea and of singing winds.
In the bow saloon the Gindungo houses a small, friendly bar stocked with spirits and cigars. The selection varies according to the season and to the routes tackled by the Gindungo. The bar is self-service; prices are posted. Income from the bar – as well as any other income, donation, etc. – is used to achieve our round the world sailing trip dream.
To offer the emotion of a sailing holiday in Sardinia and the opportunity to discover Sardinia’s territory through its agrifoods and wines and their producers. Be it the pantry list, accurately written up by the entire crew, or meeting local producers onboard or at their farms, each guest of Fornelli al Vento contributes to enriching the culinary sailing week with their desire to discover and taste Sardinia’s most authentic flavours. Refreshing encounters and the exchange of ideas and opinions between producers and crew members will transform your week into a unique experience.
