Your sailing trip
The survivalist spirit and energy of the largest island and country in the Caribbean has created a beauty all of its own.
This intriguing land which was out of bounds for half a century is now welcoming more and more curious visitors. Now is the best time to see Cuba in her true colours. The sailing community is receiving increasing support from the government. There are around 20 marinas and nautical centres offering good services and welcoming yachts under all flags.
Lying less than 100 miles from Key West, Florida, the Cuban archipelago is composed of the principal island of Cuba and countless ‘cayos’ and rocky islets. The varied landscape is made up of inland mountains and inland agricultural valleys fringed by supreme beaches on the south side. This once Spanish colony blends its European influences with a South American spice that’s as tasty as salsa and hot as a salsa dance.
Cienfuegos, one of Cuba’s largest and most prosperous cities. Colourful colonial streets with a seaside vibe weave around what is known as the Paris of Cuba, thanks to its French flair. Packed with waterside attractions and entertainment hot spots, this nautical hub has places to eat, drink and dance. It’s great for shopping and soaking up Cuban culture.
Catamarans are an excellent charter choice here getting you closer to the beautiful beaches along a coast which currently offers an adventure into the relatively unknown with longer cruising distances and exhilarating winds best suited to experienced sailors.
