Seven nights sailing the Egadi Archipelago from Trapani, with swim stops at Levanzo, Marettimo and Favignana, sea caves and crystal-clear waters.
The Egadi Archipelago lies just off the western coast of Sicily, a short sail from Trapani. Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, with a handful of smaller islets, form one of the most unspoiled and scenic sailing areas of the Mediterranean, inside the Egadi Islands Marine Reserve.
This seven night cabin charter leaves from the Vento di Maestrale marina in Trapani and keeps to short, relaxed sailings between the islands. Distances are small, so there is always time to swim, explore ashore and enjoy the sea at an easy pace, and the route follows the wind, choosing the most sheltered bays each day.
Levanzo offers rocky coves for a first swim and a quiet village reached by tender. Marettimo is the wildest island of the group, with sea caves that can be visited on small local boats, including the Cammello and Presepe caves, and walking paths through Mediterranean scrub to Punta Troia. Around Favignana the choice of bays depends on the wind, from the turquoise water of Cala Rossa to the coves of the southern coast.
Ashore there is plenty of culture to match the scenery. The Grotta del Genovese on Levanzo holds prehistoric engravings, Favignana has its open air tuff quarries and the historic Florio tuna fishery, and each island has small harbours where you can dine on traditional Sicilian cuisine.
On board, the rhythm of the week is simple: breakfast in a quiet bay, a short sail, a swim before lunch, an aperitif at sunset and evenings either at anchor or in port. The route is indicative and the skipper adapts it every day to weather and sea conditions.
Itinerary
Day1
Trapani Check-in and Onboard Introduction
Your Egadi Islands sailing holiday begins at the Vento di Maestrale marina in Trapani, with boarding after 18:00. After settling into your double cabin, you will receive a briefing on the onboard systems and life on board, and then the provisioning for the week is organised.
Day2
Trapani to Levanzo Island
After breakfast the lines are cast off and the route heads to Levanzo, the smallest and most authentic of the Egadi Islands. Its rocky coves are perfect for a first refreshing swim. After dinner you can relax on board or go ashore by tender to the village.
Day3
Levanzo to Marettimo Island
In the morning guests can optionally walk to the Grotta del Genovese, which holds engravings and drawings dating back to the Palaeolithic. Back on board, a relaxed sail leads to Marettimo, with lunch on the way. Marettimo is part of the Egadi Islands Marine Reserve and is known for the deep blue and clear water around it.
Day4
Marettimo Exploration and Sea Caves
Spend the day exploring Marettimo Island, one of the highlights of sailing in Sicily. Guests can join a local boat excursion to discover the island’s famous sea caves, including Grotta del Cammello and Grotta del Presepe, known for their crystal clear waters.
For those who prefer land activities, trekking paths lead through Mediterranean vegetation to viewpoints such as Punta Troia. The day ends with swimming, relaxation and an aperitif at sunset, followed by an evening ashore in the village.
Day5
Marettimo to Favignana Island
Sail to Favignana, the largest island of the archipelago and the ancient Aegusa. Its landscape is marked by open air tuff quarries, both inland and along the coast, and its turquoise water and natural caves are at their best in summer. The day includes sailing, swimming and time to explore.
Day6
Favignana Swim Stops and Coastal Sailing
Depending on wind conditions, sail to different sides of the island to discover its most famous bays.
Possible stops include Cala Rossa, known for its intense turquoise color, or quieter coves on the southern coast. The day is dedicated to swimming, snorkeling and relaxing in one of the most scenic areas of the Aegadian Islands.
Day7
Favignana Exploration and Return to Trapani
The last day is for exploring the inland of Favignana: visit the historic Florio tuna fishery, walk up to the old signal station for a view of the whole island, or rent a bike or scooter to ride around it. In the afternoon, a last sail leads back to Trapani, where the cruise ends. Disembarkation is possible on Friday evening, or on Saturday morning by 08:00 after a last night on board in Trapani.
Important Note
This itinerary may vary depending on weather conditions, sea state and operational requirements. The captain may adjust the route, anchorages and overnight stops to ensure safety, comfort and the best possible sailing experience.

What to pack for a sailing holiday?
Pack smart for your yacht charter: choose a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase, bring lightweight layers, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-slip shoes for onboard use. A couple of swimsuits and motion sickness remedies can also make a big difference. Each boat has limited storage, so pack light, but wisely! Need help building the perfect list? What’s a Typical Day Like on a Yacht Charter?
Start your day with a swim in a quiet bay, sail to hidden beaches or seaside villages, and enjoy a slow lunch on deck. Afternoons mean snorkeling, sunbathing, or exploring ashore. As the sun sets, your boat anchors in a scenic cove or near a harbor, ready for a relaxed dinner and a night under the stars. Curious about the full experience? Who Handles Cooking and Cleaning on a Yacht Charter?
On skipper-only charters, guests usually share cooking and cleaning duties, think salads, pasta, and good teamwork. If there's a hostess, light meals and tidying are included, but it's still a casual, collaborative vibe. On fully crewed yachts, you’ll enjoy full service with a chef and crew managing everything. What Happens in Case of Bad Weather During a Sailing Holiday?
Summer sailing holidays rarely face major weather issues, but when the sea gets rough, skippers adjust the route for your safety. Expect protected bays, marina stops, or a change in plan. These moments often lead to unexpected gems: local towns to explore, time to relax on board, or cozy dinners ashore. Curious about how crews handle these changes?
