Starting from Bodrum a gulet cruise can take you into the turquoise blue expanses of the Gulf of Gokova for a week or more of complete relaxation. Pine covered slopes drop down to quiet bays and small sandy beaches where the only inhabitants are honey bees, goats and the odd fisherman. At the head of the Gulf, in Sogut and Ingiliz Limani, there are a few rustic bars and restaurants, but even here the pace of life is slow and the atmosphere tranquil. The ancients must have felt it too as Anthony and Cleopatra supposedly fell in love on Sedir Island where the sand, unique to the area, was shipped especially from North Africa. There are no obvious historical sites in this gulf but if you stroll ashore you will come across unexpected ruins dating from before Christ and up to the Byzantine Empire. The water is clean and perfect for swimming, the views en route are incredible, and the food you will be served on board truly mouthwatering; a week winding down and spending time with friends or family in these stunning surroundings is truly rejuvenating.

Day1
BODRUM TO ORAKLAR
BODRUM - a bustling town with a Bohemian atmosphere, its colourful night life goes on until the early hours. The harbour is dominated by the spectacular Castle of St Peter with tranquil gardens and well laid out Museum of Underwater Archaeology. It has good restaurants and bars and plenty of shopping opportunities, including a weekly market.
ORAKLAR - a quiet cove on the island or Orak where the water is a beautiful aquamarine, perfect for swimming. The crew row ashore with the mooring lines and attach them to rocks.

ORAKLAR TO CATI LIMANI
CATI LIMANI - a small pine wooded cove with a sandy beach at its entrance.
Day3
CATI LIMANI TO YEDI ADALAR
YEDI ADALAR - a chain of seven small islands where kingfishers and herons are abundant, undisturbed except for the odd fisherman. The surroundings are quite wild and rugged.
Day4
YEDI ADALAR TO INGILIZ LIMANI
INGILIZ LIMANI or English Harbour - the slopes of this bay are covered in pine forests, secluded inlets are easy to find. In the harbour itself there is a wooden jetty with a restaurant ashore. This is a quiet and beautiful place where a bronze mermaid gazes serenely out over the water.

INGILIZ LIMANI TO SEDIR ADASI
SEDIR ADASI or Snake and Castle Islands - on Castle Island the ruins, spread amongst olive groves, date from before Christ to the Byzantine Empire, it is the site of ancient Kedreai. There is a small beach here known as Cleopatra’s Beach, it is said that the sand was brought from North Africa especially for the queen and it bears no resemblance to any other sand of the area.

SEDIR ADASI TO SOGUT
SOGUT - famous for its spring water, known as ‘honey water bay’. It is surrounded by dense pine forests. Anchoring is either in the bay or on one of the jetties with a few restaurants ashore specialising in barbecued food. From here it is possible to take a local bus to Marmaris, a busy resort with an active nightlife and excellent shopping opportunities.

SOGUT TO COKERTME - BODRUM
COKERTME - well known for one of its eccentric restaurant owners, Captain Ibrahim, who always puts on a flamboyant show for his guests. This is a carpet weaving village surrounded by steep slopes.
