Jump on board on our Lemon Cruise and learn Italian language in the company of the sun, the sea and a true Italian!
This is not the usual Italian course.
A minimum or basic knowledge of the Italian language is required. An orientation language test will be sent at the time of booking. During the whole holiday you will be in the company of Vincenzo, your teacher: before, during and after your lessons. Each day we will learn something new while shopping, cooking pasta and drinking wine. We will be engaged with the Italian language, history, tradition and culture.
One of the iconic symbols of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, the lemons produced in this beautiful part of Campania have been prized for centuries for their intense flavor and healthy properties. The production of lemons on the steep and rocky cliff sides along the Sorrento Peninsula is anything but easy. Stretching along the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula the Amalfi coast is one of the Mediterranean most breathtaking coastline. Declared one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites for its undisputed beauty and the uniqueness of its natural landscape, the Amalfi Coast is characterised by the combination between mountain and sea. The mountain plunges steeply into a sea, creating charming coves, deep fjords, cliffs, caverns, bays, natural arches and small pebble beaches. The typical houses, painted in warm pastel colors, follow the natural slope of the foothills, creating very picturesque “postcard“ villages. A highlight of the Amalfi coast vacation is a visit to Capri. The glamorous seaside getaway is an enchanting and picturesque island made of limestone rock on which herds of goat once used to roam (giving the name to the island).
NOTE: THIS ITINERARY COULD BE SUBJECT TO VARIATIONS DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.
Itinerary
Day1
Saturday: Castellammare di Stabia/ Procida
Meeting with the skipper and teacher from 3 p.m.
Boarding is scheduled in the late afternoon, from 5 p.m.
Our headquarter will be Castellammare di Stabia, which is nestled in the middle of the Gulf of Naples.
Castellammare di Stabia is one of the most characteristic attractions of the Campania region.
In the Roman Age, the territory was frequented by wealthy patricians and the imperial circle who chose this location for the uncontested natural beauties and the virtues of its thermal waters.
At the market: how to do the shopping
The first activity we'll have to deal with will be "la spesa", the grocery shopping.
Before shipping we'll go for a wander around markets to buy the victuals we need for our study-holiday.
Shopping will also be a good moment to make a first connection and get familiar with your teacher.
After this, we'll be ready to board. We'll set out towards a nearby bay where we'll spend our first night in the moonbeam,
depending on the weather conditions, in a roadstead located in Meta di Sorrento or in close heaven of rest called Procida.
Day2
Sunday: Procida/ Ischia
After breakfast and a quick dive we'll set out towards the beautiful Procida: third by extention of the Campanian Archipelago after Ischia and Capri, Procida is also the one that has preserved the most authentic and natural aspect thanks to its lower involvement in mass tourism.
We'll have lunch at Corricella, the oldest fishing village of the island. A wonderful example od Mediterranean architecture,
livened up by the intense colours of the marina and the characteristic boats of the insular fishermen. Immersed in an unmatched atmosphere, we'll admire one of the most beautiful spots of the island.
After a few hours of relax and navigation from the coast of Procida we will reach Ischia Castello or Ischia Porto.
At the restaurant: how to order
The activities of the second day will be dedicated to the knowledge of the gastronomic traditions.
We will learn the lexicon of food and drinks for a better understanding of the origins of the several typical dishes, their
characteristics and pecularities. After a first phase of preparation we will all go to the restaurant to check our new language skills,
order and eat, obviously!
Day3
Monday: Capri
After a breakfast at the Sorgeto Thermal baths, we will sail towards the immortal Capri. When we'll get there we will, if still possible, go to Marina Piccola, where we will be embraced by the Faraglioni which are considered as an icon of this wonderful island.
If the weather permits we will more by Marina Grande, otherwise we will enter into the harbor. We will spend the evening exploring the alleys and the panoramic square.
Shopping: how to shop
The third day will be dedicated to the topic of fashion and clothing shops: clothes, colours, sizes and models.
In a few words, how to buy good quality clothes without spending a fortune.
Day4
Tuesday: Positano and Cetara
Upon awakening we'll head to Punta Campanella, a place located at the very beginning of the Amalfi Coast.
After a relaxing dip in the water, we'll sail away enjoying a natural and unspoiled landscape until, at lunchtime, we'll reach Positano, an authentic pearl of the Amalfi Coast.
From the pebble beach are visible the charactecteristic whitewashed houses clambered upon steep slopes. The rugged narrow colourful streets full of stores and coffee-shops, lightened at night, recall the colours and suggestions of the traditional Neapolitan
"Presepe" (manger scene).
Soon after lunch we'll sail towards Cetara, where we'll drop moorings or stay in the characteristic port for the evening.
Italian cousine: how to prepare traditional Italian dishes:
In order to properly cook we should learn the names of the right tools and the numerous verbs needed to describe the different cooking stages. After a theorical lesson we'll pass to the practical stage. We will make a fish-based dinner all together.
Day5

After breakfast and a good coffee we'll sail along the coastline enjoying the unique sight of the "Costiera", not surprisingly named "la Divina". For lunch we'll make a stop at Punta Conca and there will be the chance to visit the "Grotta dello Smeraldo", for whoever would like to.
In the late afternoon we'll reach Amalfi, evocative town with a glorious past, in truth between the 9th and 11th century it was a powerful and rich Maritime Republic. In fact Amalfi gives its name to the whole coastline: fifty kilometers extending from the
cities of Salerno and Sorrento, characterized by cliffs overlooking the sea, vineyards and lemon groves, crystal clear water, beaches nestled among the rocks and magnificent villas.
Once landed we'll start a lazy exploration among the narrow streets wandering for the main places of interest. Our tour will finish at Sant'Andrea's square, site of the beautiful Amalfi's Duomo, an imposing cathedral of the arabic-norman period.
We'll spend the evening at Amalfi's Porto at the Marina or at the anchor located in front of the harbor, enjoying the enchanting city sight in the moonbeam.
The appetizer: how to make a Spritz
We will discuss the appetizer's origins. Where and when it was born. How to make an order at the bar and what do Italians drink.
We'll start from the stories of traditions, going through the new trends. At last, we'll make the notorious Aperol Spritz. The most famous appetizer in Italy.
The appetizer time will the best chance to mention the story and the prestige of the "Republic of Amalfi".
Day6
Thursday: Sorrento coast
Upon awakening, we'll bid goodbye to Amalfi towards the very close coastline of Sorrento, where we will be greeted by its scenery, unique in the world, in which wonderful mountains interchange with hills, withh enchanting bays where anybody can make a stop and swim surrounded by the scent of the famous Sorrento's lemons, used to produce Limoncello.
After a day dedicated to leisure we'll reach Sorrento where we could drop the anchor or we could get in the dock and take a stroll.
A walk in town: how to befriend Italians
How to move in an Italian city. We'll learn how to ask and give informations, how to start a conversation with an Italian and become friends, or how to make a simple chat while drinking coffee... rigorously espresso!
Day7
Friday: Sorrento and Castellammare di Stabia
After a quiet breakfast, we'll spend the morning at Puolo's Bay.
In the early afternoon, we'll set the sea to be back at 6 p.m. at Marina di Castellammare where we'll Moore and spend the night on board, dining with traditional dishes...
In the after-dinner, the already mentioned Limoncello won't miss.
Dinner with friends: what do Italians talk about?
After the last evening's activity, we'll discuss which issues are more important for Italians. We'll talk about different topics and recent history in order to better understand the vices and virtues of Italian people.
At the end of the dinner, everyone will receive a certificate of participation.
