A relaxed catamaran sailing journey through the Bay of Kotor and the Montenegrin Riviera, combining historic coastal towns, sheltered bays and scenic Adriatic navigation aboard a Lagoon 450F.
This 7 day Montenegro sailing itinerary explores one of the most scenic cruising areas in the Adriatic, combining protected bay navigation with open coastal sailing along the Montenegrin Riviera. Departing from Tivat, the route follows the calm waters of the Bay of Kotor before reaching the more exposed coastline near Budva and Sveti Stefan.
The itinerary is designed for travelers looking for a balanced sailing experience with short to moderate daily passages, swim stops, historic towns and relaxed evenings onboard. Navigation conditions in Montenegro during summer are generally calm, with warm temperatures, clear water and steady afternoon breezes suitable for comfortable catamaran cruising.
Along the route, the scenery changes continuously between Venetian stone villages, steep mountain landscapes, quiet fishing harbors and lively marina towns. Guests can spend their days swimming in sheltered coves, visiting UNESCO protected old towns, exploring local restaurants and enjoying sunset anchorages directly from the yacht.
Life onboard follows a relaxed rhythm centered around sailing, shared meals, swimming stops and evenings in small coastal ports. The protected geography of the Bay of Kotor allows smooth navigation, while the southern part of the route offers longer coastal views across the Adriatic Sea.
The Lagoon 450F is particularly suited for this style of navigation thanks to its stable sailing performance, spacious deck layout and comfortable onboard living areas. The catamaran allows guests to enjoy both relaxed anchorages and smooth coastal passages while maintaining privacy and generous shared spaces onboard.
Itinerary
Day1
Tivat
Arrival and embarkation take place in Tivat during the afternoon. After boarding the Lagoon 450F, guests settle into their cabins and meet the crew before a short briefing about the itinerary and onboard life. Depending on arrival time and weather conditions, the first evening may include a short navigation inside the Bay of Kotor or dinner in Porto Montenegro. Overnight onboard in Tivat.
Day2
Perast
After breakfast, the catamaran sails north through the calm waters of the Bay of Kotor toward Perast. The navigation passes small coastal villages and panoramic mountain scenery before arriving near the famous islets of Our Lady of the Rocks and Saint George. Guests can swim directly from the yacht or visit the historic waterfront town known for its Venetian architecture and stone palaces. Evening at anchor or in port.
Day3
Kotor Old Town
The route continues deeper into the bay toward Kotor. Navigation is short and scenic, allowing time for swimming stops along the fjord-like coastline before arriving in the UNESCO listed Old Town. Guests can explore the medieval alleys, city walls and local cafés or hike part of the fortress trail overlooking the bay. Overnight onboard in Kotor.
Day4
Luštica Peninsula
Leaving Kotor behind, the catamaran sails toward the Luštica Peninsula, an area known for quieter bays, rocky coastline and clear water. The day focuses more on swimming, paddleboarding and relaxed navigation with stops in small coves accessible mainly by boat. Depending on sea conditions, the yacht may anchor near hidden beaches or small fishing villages along the peninsula. Evening onboard at anchor.
Day5
Herceg Novi
Morning sailing continues toward Herceg Novi near the entrance of the Bay of Kotor. The town combines Mediterranean architecture with a more local atmosphere and long seaside promenades. Guests can spend the afternoon exploring the old fortress areas, swimming from the yacht or relaxing in one of the waterfront cafés. Overnight in marina or protected anchorage.
Day6
Budva Riviera
The itinerary leaves the bay for a coastal navigation south toward the Budva Riviera. This section offers more open Adriatic sailing conditions with panoramic views of the coastline. Swim stops are possible near quiet beaches before arriving close to Budva, known for its lively old town and beaches. Evening ashore or onboard depending on marina availability and weather conditions.
Day7
Sveti Stefan and Return to Tivat
The final sailing day includes a morning stop near Sveti Stefan, one of Montenegro’s most recognizable coastal landmarks. Guests can enjoy a final swim and relaxed lunch onboard before beginning the return navigation toward Tivat. Arrival takes place during the afternoon followed by final disembarkation and end of services.
