Singles Sailing Vacation in Croatia

Boarding in the morning near Trieste, welcome drink, cabin arrangements followed by food shopping for the whole group. We set sail to enjoy a reinvigorating swim along the coast, get to know the equipment and instruments of the boat and become familiar with life on board and out at sea. We head for Izola in Slovenia or Novigrad in Croatia. This hamlet retains its old urban medieval layout with narrow and meandering alleyways, small squares and picturesque ambience. After dinner there is an introduction about the holiday.

We set sail and head for the Savudrija/Salvadore Croatian peninsula. After passing this we skirt past Uma, a small town with coves and bays surrounded by olive groves, pine woods and scented Mediterranean shrubs and continue sailing southwards along the coast of Istria. We reach the beautiful Porec, built on a peninsula, where we anchor the boat and take a stroll along the narrow streets with their paving of polished Istria marble. Afterwards we visit the Eufrasiana Basilica in pure byzantine style adorned with golden, alabaster and nacre mosaics.

We sail around the small islands of the Istria archipelago, positioned between Porrec and Vrsar and set course for Rovinj. We stop for a swim at the fantastic red island known as the “flower garden” for its lush vegetation. At night we moor in Rovinj: also called the Saint Tropez of Istria for its vibrant ambience. Rovinj is one of the charming towns along the coast due to its steep stepped alleyways, the enchanting small squares, the old white stone houses and the St. Eufemia bell tower, which seems like a piece of Venice etched in a setting of isles and coasts covered by verdant vegetation. It is the tallest in Istria and a match of the St. Markʼs one: the saint holding a boat steering wheel in her hand salutes the boats entering the port and turns in accordance with the wind direction.

We navigate alongside the Brioni Islands, once the residence of Tito. This untouched archipelago with its fourteen islands is now a national park of naturalistic and archaeological interest. The woods are inhabited by deer, hares, mouflons, lamas and peacocks. The caves on this island were once quarried to build some of the palaces in Venice. We carry on towards the Veruda bay near Pula where the boat will be anchored for the night.

Today we turn our course around and head north passing in between the Brioni islands and visit the fiord of the Leme Canal, a unique and inexplicable natural spectacle, amazing from all points of view, and currently used to farm mussels and oysters. We reach the quaint Vrsar, mentioned by Casanova in his memoirs.

We still head north towards the peninsula of Savudrija. We skirt along a portion of the Slovenian coast and moor at Piran, a charming small town with a typical Istria-Italian character. Here we spend the last hot summer night of this holiday. Sunday 12:00 o'clock We sail toward the Gulf of Trieste and enter the Italian waters where we have time for a last dip in the sea before we disembark.
