Island Sailing Adventure from American Samoa to Apia with Coral Reefs Culture and Tropical Landscapes
Discover the natural beauty and cultural richness of the South Pacific with a sailing expedition to Western Samoa. This adventure voyage begins in Pago Pago in American Samoa and sails across turquoise Pacific waters toward the islands of Independent Samoa, finishing in the harbor of Apia. Covering approximately one hundred sixty nautical miles, the journey explores coral reefs, volcanic islands and vibrant Polynesian communities.
This sailing expedition offers an immersive experience that combines ocean navigation, marine exploration and island culture. Guests travel through the tropical waters of the South Pacific while discovering remote coastlines, lush mountains and vibrant coral reef ecosystems. The voyage provides opportunities for scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing and exploring pristine marine environments that host a wide variety of tropical fish and reef life.
The journey allows visitors to experience both American Samoa and Independent Samoa, two closely connected island nations that share deep Polynesian traditions. Along the route guests can explore the islands of Upolu and Savai’i, where rainforest covered mountains rise above dramatic coastlines and white sand beaches.
Samoa is known for its powerful cultural identity and strong community traditions. Visitors may experience the warm hospitality of local villages, attend traditional church choirs and observe the rich artistry of Samoan tattoo culture. Traditional Polynesian tattooing remains an important cultural practice and is recognized for its symbolic patterns and ancient hand crafted techniques.
The islands also offer spectacular natural landscapes. Waterfalls cascade through tropical jungle valleys, many forming natural swimming pools where visitors can cool off in fresh mountain water. Popular sites include cave pools, freshwater swimming holes and panoramic coastal viewpoints overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The famous Piula Cave Pool is one of the most unique natural attractions, where visitors can swim in clear spring water inside a lava formed cave.
For nature lovers the islands provide countless hiking opportunities through lush tropical forests. Trails lead to hidden waterfalls, scenic ridges and canopy walkways such as the Falealupo Canopy Walkway, which offers breathtaking views across the rainforest and surrounding coastline.
The surrounding ocean is equally impressive, with coral reefs that provide excellent conditions for diving and snorkeling. Surf enthusiasts may also discover several well known breaks across the islands, including famous waves such as Dragon’s Breath, Pudding Rock and Devil’s Island, attracting surfers from around the world.
Throughout the voyage the sailing itinerary remains flexible and may adapt according to weather conditions and guest interests. This approach allows the crew to focus on the best dive locations, nature sites and cultural encounters available across the islands.
This Samoa sailing expedition offers an unforgettable opportunity to explore tropical islands, discover vibrant Polynesian traditions and experience the natural beauty of the South Pacific from the perspective of a sailing journey across coral reefs and remote ocean landscapes.

Infinity is built to be a world-traveling base for adventure and environmental work, forming a beautiful home with unique history and personality. The living quarters are designed with comfortable guest cabins and large communal spaces including an airy saloon, cinema, and extensive deck space.
