How much does it cost to rent a boat for exclusive use?
The cost of the boat will vary depending on size, model, year of build and equipment. These costs might also be influenced by the location, as some destinations come cheaper than others.
We will explain with an overview of what these costs might entail what chartering a private boat means.
Standard prices vary widely, but for example:
Price can start at around 1.200€ for a simple and small model of sailboat to up to 14.000 € for a bigger catamaran with all the optionals, to these prices it is necessary to add the costs of the obligatory extras, holiday expenses and/or crew fees.
The total cost of the boat holiday will:
- Increase if you select newer or larger sailing yachts
- Decrease if you are open to more dated models
- Be very competitive for privately owned boats*
*while they might be coming from an older generation privately owned are worthy of being evaluated as they are generally kept in good conditions, made of higher quality materials and well equipped.
Other factors that influence the final price of your private yacht charter are:
- Time of year of the holiday
- Year of construction
- Brand of the boat
- Additional services requested
- Hiring the services of a professional skipper, hostess/steward or onboard cook

Small Sailboat
Sailboats from 30 to 38 feet usually have 2 or 3 cabins and 1 or 2 bathrooms. The dimensions change a lot according to the year of construction, because modern boats have much larger spaces.
Despite being small, they sail very well and in complete safety, and they have even sailed around the world on boats like this.
Medium Sailboat
Sailboats from 39 to 46 feet are usually made up of 4 cabins, but there are also versions with 3 cabins (one of which is larger in the bow, defined as the master cabin). As always, the common areas change a lot based on the year of construction. They are the most requested models because in 6/8 people it becomes a very affordable holiday
Large Sailboat
Sailboats from 47 to 56 feet have very different layouts, from the typical 4 cabins and 4 bathrooms up to 6 cabins and 3 bathrooms (the price does not change according to the number of cabins). They offer very large common areas and as always the year of construction is decisive, the sunbathing areas become very comfortable as well as the cockpit and the external table.
CATAMARAN WEEKLY RATES:
BOAT SIZE |
LOW SEASON |
MEDIUM SEASON |
HIGH SEASON |
Small catamaran | 3.000 € | 4.500 € | 8.000 € |
Medium catamaran | 4.000 € | 6.500 € | 10.000 € |
Large catamaran | 8.000 € | 18.000 € | 20.000 € |
Small Catamaran
Small catamarans like this very common example usually have 3 to 4 cabins with 2 bathrooms. And a skipper bow cabin at the front (but very small). Despite being small, it offers a nice bow sundeck thanks to the net and the overall width. For a group of 8 it becomes very cheap but the dining table does not allow everyone to be seated comfortably.
Medium Catamaran
Medium Catamarans go from 39 to 45 feet with 4 cabins and 4 bathrooms, the 42 footer is the most requested ever. The modern version is really large and can have its own toilet in addition to the skipper berth in the bow. A very comfortable catamaran that also offers sunbathing space on the fly bridge.C
Large Catamaran
Large Catamarans go from 47 to 60 feet, with a minimum of 3 cabins (and a huge owner's cabin) to 6 cabins, the crew is 2 to 3 crew members. Equipped with all comforts and 3 lounges (one inside, one aft and one on the fly bridge). Many water toys can be added to the holiday. Both modern and less modern represent a deluxe category.
MOTORYACHT WEEKLY RATES:
BOAT SIZE |
LOW SEASON |
MEDIUM SEASON |
HIGH SEASON |
Small motoryacht | 3.000 € | 4.500 € | 8.000 € |
Medium motoryacht | 4.000 € | 6.500 € | 10.000 € |
Large motoryacht | 8.000 € | 18.000 € | 20.000 € |
Small Motoryacht
Small motor yachts are perfect for day trips and weekend sailing, but even a week-long trip can be enjoyable for groups of two or four. Despite having limited space, the cabins are well-designed and can typically accommodate 2 or 4 people. Fuel consumption is typically reasonable, enjoy a trip without worrying about costs.
Medium Motoryacht
Medium motor yachts have 3 to 5 cabins, sun decks at both bow and flybridge, spacious layouts and a full-time crew, who often have dedicated cabins. Suited for day and weekly cruises, the prices depend greatly on year of build and model. Fuel consumption will be on the moderately higher scale.
Large Motoryacht
Large yachts typically have up to 8 cabins, depending on the design. With a minimum length of 50ft over 3 decks, space isn't an issue. A crew consisting of a captain, deck hands, hostesses, cooks, and potentially others is required. The cost of the trip is influenced by fuel consumption. A holiday on such a boat is the epitome of luxury.
Prices for standardization are calculated on a weekly basis, specifically highlighting the Italian market, which puts itself in the middle between the higher cost in the Spanish area and cheaper proposals on the Croatian and Greek side.
