Your sailing trip
A week of catamaran cabin charter from Capo d'Orlando around the Aeolian Islands, with Vulcano, Panarea, Stromboli, Salina, Filicudi and Lipari, volcanic landscapes, island harbours and swim stops along the way.
This cruise starts and ends in Capo d'Orlando, on the north coast of Sicily, and explores the Aeolian archipelago, a chain of volcanic islands rising out of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Each island has its own character, from smoking craters and black sand to fertile hills, fishing villages and wild, quiet shores.
The route moves from island to island by catamaran, with sailing distances that stay manageable and plenty of time to swim, relax on deck and explore ashore. Wind and sea conditions shape the daily sequence, so the order of the stops can change from one week to the next.
The landscapes are the heart of the week. Vulcano is known for its sulphur-rich mud and the crater that still smokes above the harbour. Panarea has sheltered coves and rocky islets with clear, bubbling water, Stromboli shows a lava glow on the slopes of an active volcano, and Filicudi offers rugged coastline and sea grottos far from the crowds.
Ashore, the islands offer a mix of local life and flavour. Salina is famous for its Malvasia wine and green hillsides, Panarea for its seafood and boutique shopping, and Lipari for its old town, its streets and the chance to explore by foot, scooter or bike.
Life on board is relaxed and sociable, with the crew looking after sailing and meals while you enjoy the sea, the sunsets and quiet nights at anchor or in port. A catamaran offers wide decks and stable, spacious living areas, which makes it a comfortable way to discover the Aeolian Islands.

Mud Bath on Vulcano (On Demand)
On Vulcano, the sulphur-rich mud pools near the harbour are a classic stop for a mud bath, followed by a rinse in the warm sea. A fun and unusual experience to enjoy on the first day of the cruise.
Scooter or Bike Ride on Lipari (On Demand)
Lipari is easy to explore on two wheels. Rent a scooter or a bicycle ashore and ride between the old town, the viewpoints and the quiet corners of the island at your own pace.
Travel organizer tips
Pack smart for your yacht charter: choose a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase, bring lightweight layers, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-slip shoes for onboard use. A couple of swimsuits and motion sickness remedies can also make a big difference. Each boat has limited storage, so pack light, but wisely! Need help building the perfect list? Read our full guide: What to pack in a suitcase for a yacht charter
Start your day with a swim in a quiet bay, sail to hidden beaches or seaside villages, and enjoy a slow lunch on deck. Afternoons mean snorkeling, sunbathing, or exploring ashore. As the sun sets, your boat anchors in a scenic cove or near a harbor, ready for a relaxed dinner and a night under the stars. Curious about the full experience? Discover more in our guide: What's a typical day like on a sailing holiday?
When the sea gets rough, skippers adjust the route for your safety. Expect protected bays, marina stops, or a change in plan. These moments often lead to unexpected gems: local towns to explore, time to relax on board, or cozy dinners ashore. Curious about how crews handle these changes?
