Your sailing trip
A circular sailing holiday from Marina d'Arechi in Salerno, combining close coastal navigation along the Amalfi Coast with island hopping through the Gulf of Naples, from the cliffs of Positano to the volcanic landscapes of Ischia and the rock formations of Capri.
The cruise departs from Marina d'Arechi in Salerno, a modern sailing base at the southern end of the Amalfi Coast, and follows a circular route north along the coast before crossing into the Gulf of Naples and returning to the starting point at the end of the week. The combination of short coastal passages and island hops keeps daily sailing distances manageable, leaving most of each day free for swimming, exploring ashore or simply being at anchor.
Navigation along the Amalfi Coast stays close to the cliffs, with the sequence of villages, fjords and small beaches best appreciated from the water. The coast is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the quality of its natural and built landscape, where terraced hillsides planted with lemon groves and vineyards drop almost vertically to the sea. Amalfi and Positano are each readable as a single composition from the water in a way that no road approach can match.
Sorrento marks the transition between the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Naples, perched on tufa cliffs above the water with views that take in both the coastline to the south and the islands to the north. The Gulf itself is defined by the three main islands of the Phlegraean archipelago, each shaped by a different balance between volcanic geology, human settlement and tourism. Procida, the smallest, has kept its fishing harbor and pastel-colored facades largely intact. Ischia, the largest, is built around a volcanic landscape of thermal springs and dense greenery. Capri, the most celebrated, rises sharply from the sea around the Faraglioni rock formations and the limestone cliffs of its southern coast.
History runs through the route in a way that is difficult to separate from the landscape. Amalfi was one of Italy's four Maritime Republics, with a cathedral and former arsenal that carry that weight clearly. Sorrento has been a destination for travelers since the Roman period. Procida was named Italian Capital of Culture in 2022, recognition for a character that has stayed genuinely local through decades of tourism on the nearby islands. The ruins of Pompeii, reachable by land transfer from Sorrento or Castellammare, add a further dimension for those interested in the region's Roman history.
Days follow the rhythm of the coast and the islands, early mornings at anchor, a morning sail, time ashore in the afternoon and evenings spent in a harbor or anchored in a sheltered bay. The distances involved allow plenty of flexibility in timing, so the pace of each day can shift according to the weather, the mood of the group and what each destination has to offer.

A bright, modern catamaran with four ensuite cabins, a generous teak cockpit and an easy layout, ideal for a week at sea with family or friends.
This modern catamaran offers a calm, spacious base for a week at sea, with a wide teak cockpit that works as the main living area. Meals are easy to share in the cockpit, with speakers for some music in the evening and a cockpit shower to rinse off after a swim.
Inside, the bright saloon opens onto the cockpit and the galley is well equipped, with an oven, cutlery and a choice of coffee machines, including a Nespresso machine. Cushioned seating on the cockpit and at the bow gives everyone a place to relax in the sun or in the shade.
Each of the four guest cabins has its own bathroom with an electric toilet, and USB sockets by the beds make daily life simple. Air conditioning and a generator keep the cabins comfortable in summer, while the watermaker and the electric windlass make longer stays at anchor easier.
The boat has ten berths in total, eight of them in the four guest cabins.

Pack smart for your yacht charter: choose a soft bag instead of a hard suitcase, bring lightweight layers, reef-safe sunscreen, and non-slip shoes for onboard use. A couple of swimsuits and motion sickness remedies can also make a big difference. Each boat has limited storage, so pack light, but wisely! Need help building the perfect list? Read our full guide: What to pack in a suitcase for a yacht charter
Start your day with a swim in a quiet bay, sail to hidden beaches or seaside villages, and enjoy a slow lunch on deck. Afternoons mean snorkeling, sunbathing, or exploring ashore. As the sun sets, your boat anchors in a scenic cove or near a harbor, ready for a relaxed dinner and a night under the stars. Curious about the full experience? Discover more in our guide: What's a typical day like on a sailing holiday?
On skipper-only charters, guests usually share cooking and cleaning duties, think salads, pasta, and good teamwork. If there's a hostess, light meals and tidying are included, but it's still a casual, collaborative vibe. On fully crewed yachts, you'll enjoy full service with a chef and crew managing everything. Want to know what's included in your setup? Read the full guide: Who takes care of cooking and cleaning on a sailing charter?
Summer sailing holidays rarely face major weather issues, but when the sea gets rough, skippers adjust the route for your safety. Expect protected bays, marina stops, or a change in plan. These moments often lead to unexpected gems: local towns to explore, time to relax on board, or cozy dinners ashore. Curious about how crews handle these changes?
