A week of cabin charter sailing from Tromsø through the Arctic fjords of northern Norway, with snow-capped mountains, Arctic fishing and nights on deck watching for the northern lights.
This cruise starts and ends in Tromsø, in northern Norway, and explores the Arctic fjords around the city. March falls at the peak of the northern lights season, and the long dark nights far from city lights are made for watching the sky.
The route stays in the fjords and sheltered waters close to the coast, and it remains flexible depending on the weather and the group. Sailing days are unhurried, with time to stop, fish and go ashore.
Snow-capped mountains rise straight out of the sea, and the fjords are quiet and wild. Arctic fishing in waters away from the usual tourist routes brings fresh fish straight from the sea.
Ashore, the winter landscape invites short walks and hikes when the conditions allow, and nights on deck are spent watching for the aurora whenever the sky clears.
Life on board is relaxed and shared. The group sails together, takes part in running the boat and spends the evenings in the warmth of the saloon, over a meal and conversation.
Itinerary
Day1
Tromsø: Boarding and First Evening Afloat
Guests join the boat in Tromsø, settle into their cabins and meet the group. After the safety briefing the boat leaves the marina for a short sail to a first sheltered anchorage in the fjords.
Day2
Into the Arctic Fjords
The route heads into the fjords near Tromsø, with snow-capped mountains rising on both sides. Guests can take part in sailing the boat as the group settles into the rhythm of life aboard.
Day3
Arctic Fishing and Mountain Scenery
A day for fishing in quiet Arctic waters away from the usual tourist routes, with the catch often ending up on the dinner table. Mountains and open sea frame the whole day.
Day4
Shore Time in the Winter Landscape
The boat anchors in a sheltered spot and guests can go ashore for a walk or a hike in the snow, depending on the conditions. The evening is spent in the warmth of the saloon.
Day5
Sailing Through the Fjords
A longer sail through the fjords below the mountains, with plenty of time on deck to take in the scenery. As night falls, the deck becomes the place to watch for the northern lights when the sky is clear.
Day6
Another Day in the Far North
A day among the fjords with sailing, fishing or time ashore, according to the weather. After dark the group heads back on deck to look for the aurora.
Day7
Back to Tromsø and Last Night Aboard
