The Andaman Islands is an exceptionally remote area. It is essential, both for your enjoyment and safety that your crew really know the area

Floating in splendid isolation in the middle of the Bay of Bengal are the Andaman Islands. Administered by India, these 300 or so islands are the highest peaks of a submerged mountain range that stretches from Sumatra in the south to the Irawaddy delta in the north.
The Andaman Islands have everything you could desire from an adventurous eco-tourism charter destination. There are literally hundreds of deserted islands to explore, each one seemingly more spectacular than the last. The beaches are magnificently pristine. The snorkeling and scuba diving is amongst the best in the world with an almost untouched marine ecosystem. There is a live volcano, thousands of square miles of untouched jungle, exotic and thriving wildlife and primitive hunter-gatherer tribes. The fishing (catch & release) is probably the best in the world. The Andamans is also starting to develop a superb reputation as a frontier surfing destination where the reef breaks have never been surfed before.

Itinerary

Day 1
Embarking Port Blair
Arrive in Port Blair in the morning & join SY Asia. We depart Port Blair and sail NE to Havelock Island. Magnificent deserted beach anchorage backed by towering green jungle. We often see logging elephants swimming here – brought down to the beach by their mahouts for a refreshing dip.
Day 2
South Button Island
A morning sail north from Havelock brings us to South Button Island – a tiny little rocky outcrop inhabited by 2 White Bellied Sea Eagles. This is a superb dive site with huge shoals of fish, pristine coral, enormous Napolean Wrasse and the occasional manta ray. We spend the rest of the day diving and snorkelling at South Button before moving on to the perfect “castaway” island of North Button for the night.
Day 3
Barren Island
An early morning departure takes us to Barren Island. This remote and very active volcano has some of the best scuba diving in the world. Around the island vertical walls drop to depths of over 2000m.
Day 4
Diving at Barren Island
You can see practically anything here from nudibranchs to whales and everything in between. There is spectacular fringing coral that looks almost psychedelic against the backdrop of black volcanic sand. We frequently see large sharks, whales, dolphins and manta rays in this area.
Day 5
Narcondam Island
A very early morning departure takes us on a 10 hour voyage to the exceptionally remote Narcondam Island. This extinct volcano is very rarely visited. The diving here is incredible. Late afternoon dive on our arrival.
Day 6
Diving at Narcondam
Spend 2 days diving at Narcondam. There are about 20 superb dive sites around this island. Late one afternoon we will dive manta point – earlier this year we saw 18 manta rays in a single dive here. It is likely you will be the only people to dive at Narcondam in 2012.

Inglis Island
An early morning departure takes us to Inglis Island for late afternoon. This beautiful uninhabited island is surrounded by a white sand beach backed by verdant tropical jungle. This is a great area for exploring by kayak, a jungle walk, snorkelling or just relaxing in a hammock on the beach.
Day 9
Inglis Island
Just south of Inglis Island are a series of coral ridges which stretch 20km from Minerva Ledge in the north to a series of deep water pinnacles in the south. There are an enormous number of dive sites in this area – many of which have never been dived. Spend the day diving. Great overnight anchorage at the nearby Neil Island.
Day 10
Sir Hugh Rose Island
Spend the day at Sir Hugh Rose Island – a small uninhabited island with a magnificent white sand beach and fabulous snorkelling. Evening sunset sail back to Port Blair departing SY Asia for the airport early the following morning.

SY Asia is fully air-conditioned and perfectly laid out for charter with endless amounts of space. 

SY Asia has a huge teak deck, and a large, comfortable, shaded cockpit area with twin dining tables that seat 10 guests.

 

ASIA has 5 ensuite staterooms for up to 10 guests. Two guest staterooms have king sized double beds, two can be set up either as twins or doubles with king size beds and the fifth stateroom forward has twin beds.

 

All the cabins have individual air-con controls, 220V power sockets, LCD screens, wardrobe and drawers. Each cabin has its own en-suite bathroom complete with shower, electric toilet and 220V power socket. 


SY Asia combines superior quality  white cottons for all the sheets, pillow cases and duvets aboard combined with decorative pure Thai silk. The yacht has the finest quality cotton bath and swim towels aboard.

Andaman Islands Scuba Diving

Asia is fully equipped for Scuba diving for up to 8 guests. Scuba diving is charged at Euro 40 per diver per dive. This is structured so guests have the flexibility to decide during their charter how much they wish to dive. Guests only need to bring along proof of dive qualification for insurance purposes and their own dive computer/watch. Each dive is led by a highly experienced and knowledgeable dive leader. We take great pride in the quality and safety of our dive operation which is why we are repeatedly chosen by the UNDP / GEF for their remote area dive survey charters in South East Asia. We provide excellent surface support, full DAN safety equipment aboard the yacht and an emergency deploy buoy for each diver.

How to get to the Andaman Islands ?
Scheduled Flights

Your yacht charter in the Andaman Islands starts and ends in Port Blair on South Andaman Island. Port Blair is the main town, harbour and adminstrative center of the Andaman Islands. All scheduled flights into the Andaman Islands are from mainland India. Operators are:Air India, Jet Airways

Private Charter Flight

The flights from mainland India to Port Blair connect poorly to international flights. This may require you to spend a night in Kolkota or Chennai on the way to the Andamans and possibly on your return. This can add a day or more to your total flying time. An alternative is a private charter flight direct from the regional transport hub of Bangkok to Port Blair. This saves lots of time and provides VIP service all the way to the yacht - something that is rather lacking when flying via mainland India
Visas

All foreign nationals require a standard Indian visa. This can be obtained from any Indian Embassy or consulate worldwide and usually takes 3 days to obtain. A special endorsement which allows you to stay in the Andaman Islands for up to 30 days is automatically issued to you on arrival at Port Blair airport.
