Sailing for The Maddalena Archipelago was declared a National Park in 1994 and is certainly one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of Sardinia.
Sardinia’s northern coast: weekly cruise on a sailing catamaran, Scenarios that have been the icon of the "beautiful Italian sea" and still remain by far one of the incomparable landscapes in which to enjoy the sea and relaxation await you.
Itinerary: Portisco, Caprera, Maddalena, Corsica, Bonifacio and Capo d'Orso.
La Maddalena
An ideal destination and a must on any Sardinian itinerary you chose. The island of Maddalena is renowned for its beaches and is connected to the nearby island of Caprera by an elevated road. The beaches of Spalmatore and Bassa Trinità are very famous and spectacular to visit.
Island of Caprera
This island is an integral part of the archipelago of the Maddalena and is a protected nature reserve. Famous for being Giuseppe Garibaldi’s last home, boasting an un-spoilt landscape; a jagged coastline divides the island into two parts: wilder and less practical the eastern area screened by rocks and natural Mediterranean vegetation, much more attended and ideal for families is the western side of the island, studded with fine sand beaches and crystal clear waters.
The Island of Spargi
Spargi is certainly one of the locations to visit. Approachable only by sea, includes numerous small islands like Spargiotto and Spargiotello which attract a lot of interest, as do the many coves caressed by the transparent waters, many vibrant colours and enchanted beaches.
Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo
La Gallura is the northeast coast of Sardinia, famous for its sparkling life from sea to elegant piazza’s, the very best in terms of tourist attractions. The studded coastline opens into the emerald waters of the Costa Smeralda and onto small coves hiding small beaches of golden sand.
Let yourself be enchanted by the mornings cradled by the waves, by the afternoons immersed in relaxing walks around the small elegant boutiques and by the evenings strolling the streets and small piazza’s of Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo, illuminated by the starry night sky.
Proceeding along the coast line you will encounter a multitude of incredible locations like Cala Corsara, Cala Soraia, Cala Granara, Cala Conneri and the battlements of Punta Zanotto, camouflaged by the boulders and thick vegetation.
Itinerary
Day1
Punta Asfodeli, Porto Rotondo
Saturday:
Our boarding base is Punta Nuraghe, 07026 Porto Rotondo, which is located in the Gulf of Cugnana, one of the most beautiful places between Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. Both in the south and in the north coast, a succession of coves, islands and beaches awaits us. Corners of true paradise to be discovered even out of season, here you will find yourself contemplating the most wonderful nature.
The Marina of embarkation is Punta Nuraghe, which is not the usual port, but a lounge surrounded by nature. The suggestive setting is characterized by the Mediterranean vegetation, a real oasis of peace in which to relax and find a unique and exclusive contact with nature.
Meeting is set at 4 pm and after having made the galley list, from 5 pm / 5.30 pm onwards we will settle on board and make a small briefing with the crew on the operation of the boat systems, on the management of life on board and on the itinerary . Once ready to start and with the provisions on board we will set sail for the nearby Spiaggia dei Sassi (or in another cove near Porto Rotondo). Navigation about 15/30 min.
Day2
Porto Rotondo
Sunday:
In the morning from Spiaggia dei Sassi or Porto Rotondo we will sail towards Caprera, to spend the morning and lunch in Cala Coticcio, also called the Sardinian Tahiti, so exotic and uncommon that it can rival in beauty with the most famous beaches of Polynesia. Cala Coticcio beach is located in the north-eastern part of Caprera, the second largest island of the archipelago, in front of the Murru rock at about 2.2 hours of navigation from our starting point.
After lunch, we will set sail to spend the night at anchor in one of the countless bays between Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria. These are the three most north-western islands of the Maddalena Archipelago and enclose, among their coasts, one of the most evocative bays in the entire Archipelago, that of Porto Madonna. Reached in about 1.1 hours of navigation.
Day3
Bonifacio
Monday:
After a relaxing breakfast, we will embark on a short navigation to head to the island of Cavallo where we can enjoy its beauties by taking unforgettable baths in a unique naturalistic context, which also offers the possibility of beautiful walks along the paths. Navigation about 45 min.
After lunch we will sail towards Bonifacio for Corsica, a navigation distance of about 1 hour.
Bonifacio is a town on the southern tip of the French island of Corsica. It is known for its lively marina and medieval clifftop citadel. Its suggestive natural port is a fjord with cliffs over 70 meters high, which will enchant you and will allow you a protected bay or mooring in the port to stroll and discover the streets of the city of Southern Corsica.
Day4
Isola Piana
Tuesday:
We set sail from Bonifacio to Spiaggia dello Sperone / Isola Piana. Distant about 45 min. Isola Piana is an uninhabited island part of the municipality of Bonifacio and Lavezzi Islands Nature Reserve, in front of Capo Sperone. Here we will encounter a wild and uninhabited nature, almost untouched as it can only be reached by sea. In the early afternoon we will sail towards the east side of Corsica in the direction of Baia Rondinara. Fine and white sand, crystal clear waters, uncontaminated environment and a perfect panorama. La Rondinara represents one of the most extraordinary bays on the island, a magnificent bay characterized by two peninsulas and turquoise waters.
On land there is only a restaurant and a path that leads to a beach ideal for yoga.
Overnight we will stay at anchor under the stars.
Day5
Cavallo
Wednesday:
After breakfast and a bit of relaxation, we set sail south towards Cavallo. Navigation distance of about 1 hour.
Cavallo is one of the unmissable stops for a sailing holiday in Northern Sardinia. It is a private island so you can stay in the harbor or go to the beach, but it is certainly its most fascinating part with the white of its beaches and with its coves that have the most beautiful shades of blue in the whole area and an underwater life second only to that of Lavezzi.
After lunch we set sail for Spargi, an uninhabited island, but with a wild charm, perfect to experience from the sea. Navigation distance is about 1 hour. This island is in fact in the extreme north of the archipelago of La Maddalena and with its younger sister Spargiotto, it is a paradise of nature with its granite rocks and white beaches, where rare species of birds nest: crested cormorant, Corsican gull and storm birds.
From the Cala Canniccio beach, it is also possible to take a beautiful panoramic path.
Evening and overnight stay in the bay under the stars of Spargi.
Day6
Spargi
Thursday:
Waking up in the bay and after breakfast we move to another of the wonderful coves of Spargi, such as: Cala Corsara, Cala Soraya, Cala Conneri (also called Cala dell’Amore) or Cala Granara. All inlets that are bordered by rocks shaped by the wind and vegetation that reaches the shore. After lunch, we set sail towards La Maddalena, the main island of the archipelago, where if possible we will enter the harbour for the night. Navigation will be about 45 min.
From land we can explore its historic center which is the only inhabited area of the archipelago: La Maddalena, founded in 1770, overlooks Palau and the cobbled alleys of the historic center are overlooked by eighteenth-century buildings, such as the town hall and the church of St. Mary Magdalene.
Day7
Punta Nuraghe, Porto Rotondo
Friday:
After breakfast we will leave the mooring in the direction of the Sardinian Coast, to take a swim and enjoy a little relaxation in the Gulf of Pevero or in one of the countless bays along the navigation route towards Portisco.
Navigation distance is about 1.5 hours.
Arrival at the Marina of Punta Nuraghe, Porto Rotondo, around 17: 00/17: 30 and after mooring and having a regenerating shower in the equipped bathrooms of the marina, an aperitif and a final dinner will be waiting for us in one of the restaurants where you can taste typical Sardinian dishes.
Saturday:
Breakfast and disembarkation by 9 am, hoping Sardinia and Corsica will have left a wonderful impression inside your hearts and made you ready to set sail again for the next sea and sailing adventure...with all the comforts!
