A seven-day sailing holiday departing from Portorosa through the Aeolian Islands, alternating volcanic landscapes, clear anchorages, fishing villages and open sea passages across this UNESCO-listed archipelago north of Sicily.
The cruise departs from Portorosa on the Sicilian coast and sails into the Aeolian archipelago, a chain of seven volcanic islands whose UNESCO World Heritage status reflects both the geological significance of their active volcanoes and the quality of the natural environment surrounding them. Sailing distances between the islands are generally short, with most passages lasting a few hours and leaving the rest of each day free for swimming, exploring ashore or simply being at anchor.
The route works through islands with markedly different characters. Vulcano and Stromboli define the volcanic extreme of the archipelago, with sulphur cliffs, dark beaches and, in Stromboli's case, a crater that erupts with enough regularity to be visible from the water after dark. Lipari, the largest island, brings the most urban energy, with a busy marina promenade and a historic center worth a full evening. Salina is the greenest of the group, its vineyards and terraced hills a clear contrast to the bare volcanic rock of its neighbors.
Panarea is the smallest inhabited island in the chain and the one with the most deliberate sense of style, with narrow pedestrian lanes, whitewashed houses and a summer atmosphere that draws a noticeably different crowd than the rest of the archipelago. Filicudi, further west, marks a shift toward quieter and wilder navigation, with sea caves, remote anchorages and an evening rhythm shaped by the absence of large ports or busy waterfronts.
Daily life on board follows the islands rather than a fixed schedule, with breakfasts at anchor, short open water passages, afternoon swim stops and arrivals in small harbors or protected bays as the sun drops over the coast. Weather and volcanic activity shape the finer details of each day, but the proximity of the islands keeps the overall rhythm comfortable throughout the week.

Day1
Boarding in Portorosa and First Navigation Toward Vulcano
Boarding begins in Portorosa from 6pm. After settling into the cabins, a short briefing introduces the boat, the navigation plan and onboard life for the week ahead. Depending on weather and sea conditions, the first evening navigation departs shortly after toward the Aeolian archipelago, with the overnight crossing giving guests their first experience of open sea sailing under the Sicilian evening sky. Arrival takes place during the night or early morning near a protected anchorage off Vulcano.
Day2
Vulcano and Lipari
The day begins near Vulcano, known for its volcanic landscapes, dark beaches and sulphur cliffs rising directly from the sea. After breakfast on board there is time for swimming, paddleboarding or exploring the coastline by tender. A short navigation in the afternoon reaches Lipari, the largest island of the archipelago, where the historic center, marina promenade and small streets filled with local cafés create a lively evening atmosphere. Dinner can be taken ashore or on board at anchor depending on the preference of the group.
Day3
Lipari to Salina
Morning navigation continues west toward Salina, one of the greenest islands in the archipelago, with vineyards, terraced hills and small fishing villages that feel distinctly unhurried compared to Lipari. Along the route, sheltered bays allow stops for swimming and snorkeling. The afternoon brings arrival at Santa Marina Salina or Lingua depending on conditions, with time for a walk through the village, coastal paths and a meal at one of the local Sicilian restaurants facing the harbor.
Day4
Salina to Panarea
A relaxed morning sail heads toward Panarea, the smallest and most elegant of the Aeolian Islands. The navigation passes rocky islets and clear water anchorages ideal for a swim stop before arrival. Panarea is known for its white houses, narrow pedestrian streets and a laid back summer atmosphere. The afternoon can be spent exploring the village, relaxing on board or following the sunset views from the anchorage overlooking the surrounding volcanic coastline.
Day5
Panarea and Stromboli
The route continues toward Stromboli, dominated by one of Europe's most persistently active volcanoes. During the crossing there is often time for swimming in deep blue water near the offshore rocks. In the evening the boat navigates along the Sciara del Fuoco, the volcanic slope descending directly into the sea, where small eruptions may be visible after sunset depending on volcanic activity and weather conditions. The overnight anchorage is near Stromboli or in a nearby protected bay.
Day6
Stromboli to Filicudi
After breakfast the route turns west toward Filicudi. This longer navigation day gives guests a full experience of open sea sailing between volcanic landscapes. Filicudi offers a slower rhythm, with wild coastlines, sea caves and crystal clear anchorages. The evening is spent at anchor under a quiet sky, far from larger ports and busy marinas.
Day7
Filicudi Return Navigation to Portorosa and Disembarkation
The final navigation begins early with the return crossing toward the Sicilian coast and Portorosa. Depending on sea conditions, a last swim stop may be possible along the coast before entering the marina. Arrival in Portorosa takes place during the evening, with the final night spent on board. Disembarkation is scheduled the following morning by 8am after breakfast.

The Bali Catspace is a 40-foot catamaran designed by Olivier Poncin and Lasta Design around a single organizing idea: that a boat of this size should feel and function like something considerably larger. The signature garage-door aft opening, the forward solid deck lounge and the flybridge combine to give the Catspace more distinct outdoor living areas than most catamarans in the 45-foot category.
The Bali Catspace belongs to the Catana Group's Bali line and was nominated for Best Boat in 2022, standing in the same category as Lagoon and Fountaine-Pajot models several feet longer. The recognition reflects what the design does well: it extracts more usable space from a 40-foot platform than almost any other catamaran in its class, through a layout that thinks in terms of zones rather than rooms.
The central feature is the aft garage door, a full-width pneumatically operated wall between the cockpit and the saloon that raises entirely to merge the two spaces into one continuous open-plan area. When the door is up, the division between inside cooking and outside eating disappears, the saloon and cockpit become a single loft, and the social dynamic of the boat shifts in a way that smaller gestures cannot achieve. Large wraparound windows and overhead hatches keep the saloon bright even when the door is closed, and the L-shaped galley with its home-sized refrigerator and freezer sits integrated into the living space rather than separated from it.
Forward of the mast, the Catspace replaces the traditional trampoline nets with a solid deck lounge, a covered bow area with seating and a table that functions equally well as a morning breakfast spot, a quiet reading area underway or a social gathering point at anchor. Above the main deck, the flybridge is accessed from either side and offers a lounging sunbed area alongside the helm station, which is positioned to allow the skipper to maintain natural interaction with guests while underway.
Below deck, the four-cabin four-bathroom configuration accommodates up to ten guests. Each cabin has its own private toilet, and the forward cabins benefit from the inverted bow design that gives them more volume and usable floor space than the equivalent position on more traditional catamaran layouts. The compact wet-bath arrangement means shower and head share the same space, a practical trade-off for a boat that maximizes every other area of the living experience. The Catspace sails in a stable and relaxed manner suited to coastal cruising and island hopping, and motorsailing in lighter winds is a normal part of how the boat is used in practice.
